  • Perhaps this is the wrong thread for my comment as it seems to be just for food stuffs. If so maybe some kind soul will move it for me.

I have had a small table-top dishwasher for years now and the only disadvantage is the cost of dishwasher tablets etc. I now buy ASDA smartprice tabs costing only £1.77 for 30 and find that they do as good a job as the expensive ones costing £5 or more.

I felt guilty running a dishwasher until I thought about it- I reckon I save water because I wash up only once a day on the economical setting and I tell myself the cost of the electricity is comparable to the cost I'd have to bear if I was constantly washing up with hot water all day!;)
  • has anyone tried the asda sp wax furniture polish ??? is it any good?? i simply refuse to pay for brand name polish as i feel its a rip off. iv used aldi's "mistik" brand (no longer available) tescos own, sainsburys own and asdas own label sprays and hav found them ok (except for the tesco own wich made my skin itch!) but im keen to cut back if poss. id also b keen to try the basics/value polish aerosol sprays if they r any good!!!
wen it comes to my choice of supermarkets i hav to say tht my no.1 fave is good old sainsbugs, with asda comin in a close 2nd!!! the tesco nearest to me is only a tiny one so consequently they dnt hav a lot of things in stock hence y i visit sainsbugs a lot!!!!! plus its worth the xtra few mins walk down the road!!!

I needed hairspray at the weekend and had previously treated myself to Elnett (which is over 5 now!). I really need to watch the pennies at the moment and decided to give the Value hairspray a try. I must admit having picked it up and walked down the cleaning stuff aisle and seeing the can of air freshener looked exactly the same size etc apart from the writing I wasn't expecting much for 34p.

    How wrong I was.

Large tin, I think its 400ml for 34p.
Very fine spray, like most of the expensive hairsprays. I rarely put my hair up as its very long and heavy so it tends to wander after a while. Not with this stuff. I've used it today and even messed about with my hair and its still holding in place. Its not sticky at all and my hair moves (i.e. its not one solid brick). I didn't need that much on my hair and it brushes out easily without going white or gunky. I've used Tesco own brand before and its not as good as the Value (the mid-range brand was sticky and horrible with a horrible fragrance). The Value hairspray doesn't have a heavy scented or sickly smell like most hairpsrays, its not completely scent free its more a very light pleasant smell. Yeah ok, its not the sort of can of hairspray I'd take out with me, simply because of the size.

    I'd say its a bargain for 34p.

The Sainsburys basic one is good too. I think that was 33p

Sainsbury's basic stuffing is good too for 13p!
  • tesco value curry sauce in a tin is really nice added to a little chicken or just add onions and it's only 4p a tin we love it, (the usual curry sauce jars are near enough £2) and the sweet and sour sauce is really good too at 25p a tin nicer than any top branded sweet and sour i have tried

Pudding for four for 16p a serving: Sainsbury's Basics Raspberry Sponge (46p) served with Sainsbury's Basics tinned custard (18p). I've just had that for my own pud and it was scrummy. I chilled the custard in the fridge first, and you could do the same with the sponge I suppose.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

when my friend saw me breaking the d/w tabs in half she thought I was mad - but the other day she proudly told me she was using lidl tablets - and only half at a time! I was so happy, someone had finally taken me seriously!
    weaving through the chaos...
  • Tesco value rice pudding (18p) is lovely, actually creamier than tesco standard tin and is not quite so sweet and sickly. Lovely cold with tinned peaches.....mmmm my fav.
