Avoid Sainsbury's Basic bin bags. Like most men my husband crams the bin to bursting and these bags are hopeless. You take them out to change and they have split and then you need another bag etc etc. Never again

I'll second that. We tried them for taking garden refuse to the tip and they're not a patch on the Tesco's value bin bags.

We are impressed with T's value ground coffee ~ we do like coffee, and this is really cost effective, despite being dearer than instant ( but we did lock away our dear darling senseo), the dishwasher tabs are brillo too, I pour a little value multi surface cleaner into a squirty bottle and add water, it's great.
I bought my OH a Senseo a couple of Christmas's ago and found the pods very expensive so I bought some refillable eco-pods off ebay. You just fill them with any ground coffee (we normally use whatever is on offer, Ikea's ground coffee is good too) and pop in the machine as normal. These are like mine:

'best-in' value rubbish bags. 95p, and no more likely to tear than your £2+ jobbies. :)
  • Can someone tell me if Tesco do value tinned mushrooms and also value sultanas, I can't see them online but I rarely get to a big store to check.

There have been some suggestions on the grocery challenge that Tesco don't always put all of the value products online (I know products stocked varies by store but mine comes out of one of the huuugge stores!), I'm starting to think it might be true and if so I'll drag myself to the store and do some checking!

Asda Smart price mature cheddar, sometimes its cheaper to buy branded if its on offer though.

Used the SP for a kids party, all the mums liked the cheese and were asking what it was.

"Err, its err, errmmm, Asda... err, Asda Smart err price "
  • sainsburys value ketchup is good.

tesco mint thins (after dinner mints) apparently taste like toothpaste according to my husband.

boots value health paracetmol, always but them just the same without a pretty box.

I think that on the whole, Sainsburys Basics stuff is nicer than Tesco value or Asda Smart Price. I regularly buy Basics.

I agree, MrS basic range is much better then MrT and MrA. I did my bulk monthly shop the other week, and I bought pretty much all basic, came home with 11 bag for life bags, and it only cost me £41, my OH was astounded. I can personnally recommend:

Baked beans, chopped toms, kidney beans, corned beef, seafood sticks, curry sauce, pasta sauce my list goes on :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

On my recommendation my mum has changed some of her higher priced items for the basic range, and she prefers them, in addition my dad who is very fussy (but only if he sees the label) agrees and said that he wishes he had changed a long time ago.
  • Have just tried sainsburys cheeseboard selection over the weekend................christmas and all that......it was excellent, it contained wenslydale with cranberries, double glouster with chives, red leister (sp) and cheddar! They also have basic stilton but i haven't tried that yet....anybody?!
:D I know i'm in my own world~it's ok they know me here!!! :D
