Virgin Media Deals - Deal Comparison Thread!

I have been with ntl now Virgin Media for a while.
Recently my bills have been yoyoing all over the place. I can't stand that as I was supposed to be on the Talk Unlimited and a fixed broadband cost. Over the past 6 months my broadband seems to cost anywhere between £0/month to £25/month and the phone from $8/month to £23/month. In a vain attempt to put some bounds on this I have called several times the 150 number and asked what is going on. I never got a clear explanation, probably because they didn't know.
I work in this area so I know how cut throat the business is and that ntl's churn (customer lost and won each month has been disasterous, 96K have left in the last 6 months total net loss!). Thus I reactivated my BT line and this week gave ntl a call to find out what is going on. They were unable to tell me so I said ok in that case best I leave and go with Talk Talk.
They switched me through to a department that immediately said no problem we can fix this payment issue. Here's the deal.
Broadband 4Mb download speed £25/month.
Talk unlimited phone £2.95/month (I pay £1/month extra for itemised billing)
42 TV stations Free of charge.
25% off calls to all mobiles on any provider.
Hence its £27.95 (would be £26.95 if no itemised billing)
Fix price contract for next 12 months, the only difference in price will be for mobile calls.
Same deal is £19.95 for a 2Mb download speed.
Rule threaten to leave and you can name your price. I thinks that's a fab deal from what I had where I could be paying any amount they felt necessary.

I have found Talk anywhere an excellent solution for calls to virtually anywhere. Since it includes calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers as well as international numbers its great!
200 minutes cost just £20 including the telephone line rental and you can have the TV packages for an extra:
M TV package: Free-No extra cost 30 basic digital tv channels
L: around 60 digital tv channels for £3.50 per month
XL: Countless channels with free Setanta range and unlimited use of on-demand services for an extra £10 per month.
So I use the XL package and Talk anywhere 200 plan as well 2MB broadband and my bill comes to: £43 and also includes 100 anynet anytime minutes and 100 anynet anytime texts on my Virgin Mobile phone.
I got this offer through retentions, if your an existing virgin media customer, don't sit back! Get onto retentions and get some discounts by saying your gonna look at other providers!
Basically Virgin Media have in my case offered me free 2mb broadband internet and 100 mins and 100 texts on Virgin Mobile for £10.
And I also got them to remove the £5 non-direct debit admin fee also known as the payment handling charge!0 -
200 minutes only equates to about 6 minutes a day.
As i have said before.
Subscribing to Talk anywhere is not beneficial for those who call geographical numbers 98% of the time"
Its a niche product, with a limited market, and their are more flexible ways of dealing with the type of calling you would need to benefit from it.
Did you not use to call yourself TelephoneSavings.:D0 -
No what do you mean?
I don't have a BT line because they want £124.99 just to fix the master socket, so i'm kinda stuck with Virgin Media and if you do call 0845,0870 and mobiles a lot then its good but i agree that if you call landlines a lot then it works out as the equivalent of about 4p per minute which is a lot for a landline to landline call these days.0 -

When I got my Virgin/NTL deal they would not do a deal on Talk Anywhere.
It's easier & cheaper to give away calls to geographic landline numbers on Talk Unlimited/Evening/Weekend packages which lot of people may not even use.
Virgin/NTL can then make money off calls to 08xx, mobile, international numbers.

I've had cable for many years (United Artists, then Telewest, now VM) and I'm pretty happy with their BB and phone service, but the TV packages that are available are not as good as Sky offer. Even though I'm pretty sa\tisfied with the services provided, I reckon I've been paying too much, for too long.
Anyway, I've just called them and threatened to leave for Sky satellite TV & BT phone line. After a bit of haggling I've picked up this package:-
BB - L (4MB)
TV - XL (includes Setanta sports package) + Sky Sports + Sky Movies
Phone - XL
V+ Box
Old box moved upstairs
No installation Charge
£64.45 a month.
Not too bad a deal, but I think I let them off the hook - maybe I could have got if for a bit less if I'd haggled harder. What goes around - comes around.
Give lots and you will always receive lots.0 -
XL Tv Package
4mb BB
Free eve/weekend phone
all for £35 month no 12 month contract, but for some reason i'm getting it for £33 month, and it looks like it might be unlimited phone cos i haven't been charged for a call for the last 3 month.0 -
hi everyone,
am looking to join virgin media as a new customer. the people who lived in the property before me used their service, i think under their previous name of telewest/ntl.
i am looking for a package including tv, broadband and phone. ideally would like xl tv and possibly a sky sports collection package. i can't seem to get that on their website but with 3 for £30 (BB M, phone M and TV L) plus sky sports collection it comes to £54.
Do the telesales people give better deals than those of the website for new customers?
thanks for the help0 -

That's the deal I'll be on from this Wednesday, should be £35 but computer is over discounting to £33.45, I got Caller Display for free too. This price not just for 12 months, for as long as I remain a customer.
Like the sound of no charges for daytime calls either, however knowing my luck I would be charged, so I'll be using my free VoIP calls for daytime calls. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I called them this morning as my 6 month retention deal is coming to an end which they offered after Sky & they wouldn't offer me anything, just said I can go back to my original package minus Sky or I can cancel0
