Sorry, but I am totally abhorred by this post, and even more so that your dad has bought another Guinea Pig, as if they are not living creatures but are toys that operate with batteries.

If it was my kid that did that, I'd have punched him into the middle of next week.

What if the Guinea Pig was a dog? that chose to bite back?, yeah! the poor dog would have been put down for aggression.

Sheesh...I hang my head in shame for being part of the human race sometimes.:(

Sorry......You find aggression towards animals abhorrent and yet advocate violence towards a 5 year old?

No wonder you hang your head in shame.

Hitting my child is going to teach him that adults can hit whenever they feel like... I think it is a pretty stupid thing to suggest to be honest. I don't believe you need to hit children to discipline them, infact I think it shows that the parent can't control the situation.

    Yes!!!

As any child of mine that had a pet at the age of 5 would have had the rules/etiquette/care drummed into them.

And what would your response be if this had been a dog that had bitten back?

I'm not trying to make the OP feel any worse, as I can see she is already upset and can read from her post the care of any future small pets will be dealt with differently.

Totally disgusting behaviour from two children who are old enough to know the difference between right and wrong, and yes I am a parent.

perhaps have a word with the vet who put the pet down and let him know a replacement is now in that home. He/she could also suggest how to educate your child in a way they will understand- eg provide links to sites with good advice.
I can't think what else to suggest to you as you obviously are as horrified as those reading it all. And you were brave to tell us in the first place. But googling it is frightening so no wonder you are frightened for the future.

Yes, but she is now an adult. the expression of punching them into the middle of next week is an old one......often used in the Dandy or Beano in the mid 70's. Not a literal expression, but one that expresses what you really want to do.

My son would not have been left alone with a dog, I did not know my son was in a room with the guinea pigs they are always outside and I did not know they had been moved, I was visiting the house.

I just feel like this has no constructive input.. fair enough to say your opinion, however I already have stated my anger and upset at it all. I would understand if I was saying I am not bothered.

I really don't care if its a constructive comment or not, I cannot abide animal cruelty and that is what it is.
