Anyone read 50 Shades of Chav? ;)

"Even though he only hud wan tattoo I yearned fir him tae fill those lonely hours a'tween Jeremy Kyle and Loose Women".

"As he approached wae those pasty white arms hinging oot ae his Gola vest, his smile told me it was benefit day and I knew ma velour tracksuit would be hinging aff the lamp shade the night."

"As I stood in line at the Job Centre thinkin o' reasons I couldnae work, a sweet smell drifted past ma pig like nostrils. It wiz a mixture of weed, B.O and Lynx Africa. I turned around and there wiz Dwayne. Oor eyes met and he wiz soon lifting me ontae the wheelie bins behind Iceland. He hud tied up his Staffy tae block the ally way so we wouldnae be disturbed. There wiz a tramp watching but it just added tae the mystery. I knew it wiz love and ma life wid neva be the same..."

I'm on the third book now and have enjoyed reading them, if only for a bit of escapism! I love reading and will give most things ago, my shelves are full of different types of books.

I don't understand why some people judge these books without having read them and I really dislike the snobbery that some people have towards them!

I don't think of it as being snobbish really, it's more exasperation that something as badly written as 50SoG can make the best seller lists whilst there decent writers who never catch a break.

Exactly - I don't get the hype over 50SoG, its a nice holiday read basically, and not as raunchy as it made out to be.

I think that this book is popular and loved by those that would normally not read anything. For people that do read, the book is nothing more than a romance novel, and the s3x scenes in other romance are much more raunchy

I enjoyed the books - although think it was dragged out a bit, didn't need 3 books to finish the story

It's just incredible luck through word of mouth. I'm sure FB and twitter has played a big part in it's success.

It is badly written but it takes a few hours to read them and then onto something else.

    Long live books!

    Happy moneysaving all.

LOL I asked last night on f/b if I was not the only person on my friends list not to fall for all the hype over this book (purely for sanity reasons :) ).
I got a few likes and stuff. BUT there is one friend who always has to bite and pipe up. Apparently "It's a good read and you don't appreciate good books" Bwahahahaha.
Now tbf, I am not going to buy or borrow or read it. I read the reviews about it and decided not to bother, 'cos it sounds like a load of rubbish to me, but each to their own. But I was getting a little tired of all the daft comments coming up on my wall saying "Every woman needs a Christian" and "I get turned on by grey ties PHWOOAARR"
It just seems a bit, well, WHY?? to me. I'm glad I have different tastes to those on my friends list, they all come across as bored housewives to me :rotfl:

I've not read the books and don't intend to, although I am an avid reader.

There are some hilarious 1* reviews on Amazon.

Some of the extracts I've read in those reviews have reinforced my decision not to waste my time reading the books.

I like a well-researched, well-written, descriptive novel with believable characters and believable dialogue - it sounds like this book fails on every level.

I am prepared to admit a certain snobbishness over this. I don't mind the occasional pot boiler book, but in the same way as i like good food npt junk food as my standard, i like to read things that are edifying in some way. Not necessarily 'high literature' but valuable. I am an avid fan of childrens and young afults literature. I think there is tremendous scope in books aimed at this age group. It has concerned me for a few years that the atandard pf teen literature is often very
Ow, and pointing them toward this type andstandard of adult book. This is a shame, as really good books add something increibly valuable to life. Books can suggest yo us what we want and expect from our lives. I have mot read this book but a couple of things in reviews and interviews about seem that they would not be things i would hope to bw steering expectations, ambitions or education of women.
