Diane Kruger or Rachel Bilson for Ana.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Fifty Shades of Grey started life as a Twilight fan fiction story, originally, on https://www.twilighted.net and was taken down when the author got a book deal.
I spotted it in ASDA and realised that it was the same story with the character names changed. Reading it online for months, I had no idea just how long it is.
I read an interview with Kristen Stewart in which she expressed interest in doing the film with Robert Pattinson - I believe the film rights have been sold.0 -

What has surprised me about the reading of the books is.......how many women are surprised at this lifestyle!0

Well, I've been around the block a bit, and not one of my many many suitors has ever picked me up in a helicopter or bought me an Audi for my birthday, or taken me to their chalet in Vermont. Maybe I should have bitten my lip...
I read it, just Mills & Boon with handcuffs really, although perhaps more badly written. I'm a bit uncomfortable that there is a theme of subjugation of women and Ana only complies because she is desperate to please him.0 -
I loved the books and will be reading them again when they've finished being borrowed out!
My cousin posted this link on facebook.

Not the idea that I have of Ana or Christian but then everyone will have a different image of them that they've built up won't they?0 -
I loved them and recommended them to others too! I know they aren't intellectual reading and not the best books ive read but i bought all 3 and have read them all twice...

I agree. It's just escapism, a bit like watching trashy tv, or a naff movie, which I love from time to time.0 -

I downloaded the first one when it was free and read up to the 'losing of virginity' episode before deleting it.
Honestly I can't see what the hype is about. The character development was nil and the plot seemed to be a bunch of well-worn cliches hung together to fluff out the sex.....I literally rolled my eyes when she first meets the billionaire and trips up going into his office. The writing was awful on every level; like the output of a teenager basically.
Having said that I suppose that nobody is buying it for the quality of writing (just as well), but for the sex. But even that I thought was cliched and poorly done......multiple orgasms from penetrative sex on her first time? Yeah, riiiighhht.
It was dire, just dire. I remember reading Jilly Cooper's stuff as a teen and from memory, even that trash beat Fifty Shades of Grey.
ETA: Even if the first chapter I was wondering if the author was simply doing a take off of 9 1/2 weeks....which just also happens to be about a kinky billionaire and a naive woman.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”
