I do not have to justify what I spend our hard earned cash on to anybody and that does not mean we are not entitled to our wages on time. We did not know the bank was going to mess up big time and do this nobody did!
That's exactly why you should have some contingency money set aside - for the unforseen. Nothing in life is perfect and if its not banking systems going wrong it'll be the car breaking down, illness, job loss - they can all happen at any time and if you don't have a cushion then you're in the proverbial straight away before you know whats happened. You are just a troll and if you have nothing constructive to say stop chasing me around the boards commenting on my posts.
I'm not a troll, what I say is constructive whether you like to hear it or not, and commenting on one single post can't really be called 'chasing' you around the boards can it?0 -
I can see where both emweaver and Conan are coming from. I take things personally very easily.
emweaver: Good on you for saving to take your kids away on holiday, imo you haven't done anything wrong by not saving a little extra as you were due wages the day/day after getting home. You had no way of predicting this would happen.
Conan: I can see where you're coming from as well that it would be sensible for people to try to have some money saved for in case of emergency. For me, it's not easy to save but I've re organised our finances to make it easier.
As to what impact the Natwest fiasco has had on me, so far it hasn't, my Child Tax Credits and Carer's Allowance which are due tomorrow are showing in pending transactions. Will be checking for wages tomorrow. What the fiasco has done is made me think about contingency for if the main 2 banks we bank with have similar tech problems. It seems that having a/c with different banks won't work as debit from one will get stuck in the system. The easiest for me and I would guess for others would be to put money each week onto a gift card for whichever supermarket/s you shop with the most. Just checked on Tesco's website and you can't use giftcards to pay for groceries online but they are working on it.0 -

Good luck, they have been working on it for at least 3 years now.0 -

So far I've heard nothing from RBS/NatWest/Ulster Bank that they will put right customers and non-customers credit files which will show missed payments due to their IT glitch.:o

Discuss. Will my credit rating be impacted?
There should be no adverse impact to credit ratings as a result of this incident.

It's in their FAQ's - your credit file/score/rating shouldn't be affected by this.
And as for the credit/debit debate - RBS have always credited my wages and then taken the debits that come out on the same night, I've often gone on just after 2am the day my wages are due and they taken out my phone bill which is the same day after the credit. None of my dd's have come out (phone and car insurance) since the fiasco. Orange do though bank with Natwest and they've said that the DD's probably won't even be called for while the mess is happening so I don't have to worry about that one being returned - will deal with my car insurance when/if it happens.0 -
It's all very well for NatWest/RBS/Ulster to say "There should be no adverse impact to credit ratings as a result of this incident" - - and they probably can work with the CRAs to remove any default markers, or not have them added in the first instance - - - but only for transactions that they report to the CRAs.
I can't see how they could possibly catch all problems that result directly from the mess NatWest created.
For example, somebody did not get paid, into a different bank, because their employer's NatWest account was not operational due to this mess. They go overdrawn without authorisation, or their Direct Debits fail. How will NatWest make sure there is no default marker going onto people's CRA records in this case?
Also, if people fail to pay their phone, insurance, broadband etc bills because their DDs failed, or because they couldn't pay a bill due to lack of funds / lack of online access: surely the payee companies won't simply stop reporting overdue payments to the CRAs?
And, tbh, confidence in NatWest is a tad dented a the moment, so why should anyone believe what they say about credit records? I believe people need to check themselves, for at least a couple of months, that nothing untoward is happening on their files. And possibly call on NatWest to help them remove the incorrect markers.
EDIT: if you know you can't pay a bill because of the Natwest problems, or end up with probs on your account with another bank, it might be best calling them now to agree they won't punish you. Getting anything removed from your CRA records is generally a nightmare, so best to avoid a marker to start with.0 -
So...I got paid my wages on Friday - went and did my shopping, petrol, birthday gifts, ETC. My account was fine Saturday.
Wake up yesterday to check my balance and its -£168
WTFFFFFFFF - The deposit has vanished from my account so now I have a negative balance and 2p in my wallet. I'm at work tonight and don't even have any money to buy lunch and dinner.
What are they saying about giving us an advance? I only want £20 to last me the week
Also, my phone bill is coming out tomorrow!! Will it be declined, should I call orange and explain now?! IDK0
