Indeed it is a scary place to which I venture rarely!

Ought to have a disclaimer warning posters that posting there will invite severe chastisement! :D

Well, if I ever feel that I'm getting over optimistic and cheerful, and living too recklessly, perhaps I will ... Thanks

You could spend all day at it, though, couldn't you? There are forums - and people to argue with - everywhere these days! ;)

Just been on the news here in N.Ireland that Ulsterbank are now NOT going to have it fixed on Monday, and will be the middle of next week before they finally get it sorted out.

    Absolute disgrace .

Anyone know which bank account the NHS use to pay staff? We're all due our wage on Weds so could be interesting if its not fixed and they use RBS

I'm in the same boat with RBS removing my wages - got them on Friday (day they were meant to go in) - everything fine, paid some bills, transferred money to my savings etc. been using my card Friday and Saturday all day fine so thinking I was one of the lucky ones unaffected. Went onto my online banking for something totally unrelated, all my wages gone and I'm nearly £2k overdrawn. I have money but it's in my savings and I can't transfer it cause the money I do have isn't enough to go over the £2k overdrawn so it would just go to clearing some of that off rather than allowing me to take any money out.

I'm so annoyed that they didn't tell people that even if it looked like you'd be unaffected that you would/could still be affected. Like the poster above, I got told it has affected EVERYONE. Well, then they should say that instead of letting people think their accounts are ok. I unfortunately didn't go on my online banking until after 12 when the branches shut but luckily have £15 in cash to do me today. While they might think their communication to their customers has been satisfactory, it definitely is not and has left me really angry that my wages have disappeared. I would have prepared myself if they'd let everyone know it was a possibility.

Sorry this is completely wrong RBS/Natwest/Ulsterbank, process all incoming BACs first and then process outgoing debits.

With the exception of POS transactions which are dated the previous day even though they are not cleared onto the statement until the overnight run.

It's pretty standard in banking that the debit trail is processed directly before the credit trail. Historically this was to maximise any charges. RBS's own systems update only when the reconciliation is done between the two (about 3-4am), but if you check an RBS/Natwest account online after 11pm, the direct debit position has already processed (anything due tomorrow is showing).

The vast majority of affected customers can confirm this - payments due in on Friday are still missing for many, but debits have already appeared.

The above may differ for non-traditional banks such as demutualised Building Societies and the likes of Santander etc. - however it certainly was the case at Natwest & Barclays when I worked at both.

It may depend on the Trust, but my wife works for them and has been handed cheques drawn on Natwest previously when payroll errors have happened.

His reply was a perfectly reasonable comment. you've come onto a public forum to complain about your hardships having just returned from a holiday which you spent ALL your money on. if you live that close to the edge then clearly you couldn't afford to go on holiday in the first place.

Perhaps 'always' coming across people who criticise the way you live should be setting off alarm bells somewhere.

I do not have to justify what I spend our hard earned cash on to anybody and that does not mean we are not entitled to our wages on time. We did not know the bank was going to mess up big time and do this nobody did!

You are just a troll and if you have nothing constructive to say stop chasing me around the boards commenting on my posts.

What a sanctimonious lot you are out here! I've rarely ventured outside of the Home and DIY section before.

I know which family I'd rather live with ... the one that blows all their money on a holiday, knowing that they will have salary in the bank when they get home ... or the one who sits at home staring at the walls with a few hundred in the bank, just in case the bank has a meltdown.

I'm getting really peeved with NatWest now. The problem seems to be a lot bigger than they're letting on. Internet banking is still not available ... and why are credits or debits appearing and then disappearing again??

Thank you. You only live once so why not enjoy an annual holiday and who's to say we spent loads of money on it we spent what we had saved hard for knowing / thinking we would come home to money in the bank.

Maybe if I had his crystal ball I could of cancelled the holiday and upset the kids.

Yeah you'll find a lot of people in this section have a "holier than thou, you must run your finances like a robot or you DIE" attitude

I find it best to ignore them ;):D:beer:

I do try but those idiots get right under my skin. Or maybe I am a complete idiot for saving hard to take my children on holiday when I could use the money to buy a few extra tins of beans or pasta each week incase there is a nuclear war, bank meltdown or whatever else is just around the corner. I know for sure a holiday is enjoying our hard earned cash much more than looking at a cupboard of baked beans etc every day :D
