So...I got paid my wages on Friday - went and did my shopping, petrol, birthday gifts, ETC. My account was fine Saturday.
Wake up yesterday to check my balance and its -£168
WTFFFFFFFF - The deposit has vanished from my account so now I have a negative balance and 2p in my wallet. I'm at work tonight and don't even have any money to buy lunch and dinner.
What are they saying about giving us an advance? I only want £20 to last me the week
Also, my phone bill is coming out tomorrow!! Will it be declined, should I call orange and explain now?! IDK
Hiya if you bank with natwest you can get cash in branch with ID. Best to ring orange just incase that way they are aware of the situation and should give a bit of leeway.0 -

I would call them to let them know, however with Orange you do get a bit of leeway. They'd cancelled my DD without me knowing so my bill wasn't paid, it wasn't till I got back from holiday later that I realised but my phone was still working. In this scenario I would imagine they could halt any potential cutting off that's in line to happen,0 -
I find it really uncanny that Natwest are claiming everything is now ok. NO it isn't. I still haven't had my accounts updated..... I keep asking who is their IT provider - why don't they announce that they will be penalising them - it may make us poor customers feel a bit better.
RBS group, like most banks, have their own internal IT provision... although they outsourced abroad a few years ago when they made back office redundancies in the UK0 -

Yeah, so why can't they tell people the name of the company who they have outsourced to? Or was it not their fault and only the fault of their UK IT department? Which would be a case for more outsourcing ...0 -
I suspect that would be a security issue.0

Just watched Stephen Hester "apologising" for the inconvenience - I bet he has been able to pay his bills!
They keep saying that the problem has been fixed, yet my a/c is still wrong and when I phoned RBS today, I was told that they didn't know when it would be fixed but hope it would be "soon". When i asked about compensation it was told I could "try"!
I'm one of the lucky ones - I am able to get money from another account, but I really feel for the people who are relying on the bank to feed kids etc.:(0 -

Sky News show him refusing to say if he will turn down his ONE MILLION POUND bonus this year!!
Even though the article from January says that he will.
And............
That is on top of the potential £35.5million package he has enjoyed since he moved to RBS in 2008.
It is made up of pay, pension, bonuses, shares and a long-term incentive plan that is worth up to £4.8million a year, four times his £1.2million basic salary, and is due to start paying out from 2014 if he hits certain targets.
This is how it is calculated:- 2008: £4.99million in shares instead of pay and bonuses;
- 2009: £6.9million total package;
- 2010: £8.16million total package;
- 2011: £8.08million total package;
- 2012: £7.38million total, including up to £4.8million long-term incentive plan, salary of £1.2million, £420,000 in pension contributions and his bonus which was worth £963,000 when issued last week but was expected to top £1million as RBS shares rise in value;
- 2013: RBS have set aside £3.3million of shares for his bonus next year. The exact size will be decided this time next year.
Tally Ho!
Living the high life: Stephen Hester, chief exec of Royal Bank of Scotland

There' some more speculation for you:
CA 'helps' RBS resolve tech problems that led to massive outage
and a link to the referenced The Register article
The "CA-7" software has been around for decades. It is effectively a utility that does what it is asked to do, in the sequence it is asked to do it.
Saying it was CA-7's fault would be a bit like saying it's the bike manufacturer's fault that I fell off the bike.0 -
Someone I know that works for Ulsterbank branch say they have no access to the Computer system at all until at least Thursday, its totally offline. They are relying on you bringing in a statement from last month with some ID to hand out money. And that it will be the end of the week before it is fixed.
Which is in complete contradiction to the information that they are giving the press.
I got a FP payment into my account today, but the balance is still stuck on 19th, so my balance is correct but there is no entry for the incoming payment.
I also can't take the payment out.0
