So if someone was overdrawn anyway and they cannot prove any money would have been paid in during the incident, you will still waive the charges that relate purely to the incident period. You will be wiping ALL charges for everyone for the incident period ?

That would only apply to geniune customers who had money being paid into there account.

Im sure there will be alot of people who "thought" they was getting funds paid into the account and actually was not who took advantage of the £300.00 good will gesture.

If that is the case, I hope they make sure the system is robust because there'll be a hell of a lot of people flooding the system with payments/transfers when they do decide to turn the functionality back on.

Personally, I suspect the system to handle transfers is still broken.

As you can imagine the bank can suspend a service at anytime should they be required to in this instance the group deem it necessary to do so.

I would say they would have a cheek to charge anything for the level of service that has been provided this month.

Note that this is certainly not a criticism of the counter staff, who appear to have been outstanding in many cases, under very difficult circumstances.

That may be the case, but to say on TV that the problem is fixed implies that the bank is operating normally... which it certainly is not.

Exactly, you have made my point. Each case on its own merits. No blanket waiving of charges for everyone. ( though IMHO they may have to consider doing this at some point)
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

The problem its self is fixed them restricting the online service is something totally different IMO.

Is anyone else suddenly struggling to log into online banking at the moment? I could get in fine before but now it's just throwing up an error page every time I click to log in. Have tried on both Chrome and IE, same thing happens on both and I don't even get as far as the log-in page!

Well went down to join the queue - there was none - the staff were brill, confirmed details, checked regular payments were made, asked how much we needed, joined a queue of 4 at cashiers desk and received cash, in and out in less than 5 mins.

Oh and it was all done in the dark as they'd had a power cut due to the torrential rain in the north west last night!!!

I have had no internet access to internet banking since yesterday am. Went into branch they told me it won't be fixed til Monday at latest.

However, some people do seem to be able to access it...

It's not just the online service that's broken, telephone banking are unable to carry out these transactions either.

The statements being fed into the media that the bank is functioning normally, apart from a backlog of transactions, is IMHO at best misleading.
  • I am confused. Don't get paid until next week (last working day) and I already have money in my account. I need to get some cash out for the next few days to paid for my bus travel on monday. Am I able to still get money out via the cashpoints if I already in credit with no transactions due in/out until next month. All this information is getting very confusing.
