  • This isn't just people who had nothing in their account - My Husband's Employers had money in their account - but the wages have not been paid to the Employees by NatWest - as all the Employees bank with other Banks (small company) they are stuffed until this is sorted out

ive got child benefit/child tax credit and my wages all due in on monday and tuesday im greatly concerned that they wont clear then my dd's and mortgage are due out from the 28th onwards. im going into branch tomorrow to see what i can do from my end to make sure that nothing gets missed. i can borrow money but if i borrow and then pay it in over the counter to cover the dd's will it clear anyway if the problem is a computer glitch? ive had no problems up til now, managed to withdraw cash and buy things through chip and pin with my balance showing as correct on online banking.

It surprises me that people dont have a small amount 'put by' just in case things like this happen.

People do have a little put by but this time of the month we are not talking about having a little put by, when mortgages and all the bills have to go out - "a little is not enough" In this climate most people no longer have the luxury of saving up enough extra to cover their mortgage/rent and all other bills just in case something like this happens.

That is why we are supposedly in recession. There are alot of people out of work who have used all their savings to try to survive now they have no work as the benfits they get are so low.

You can draw this from the atm. It is just if your balance is not showing cleared funds in your account that have been paid in over the last 3 days. If your balance says you have money available then you can use the atm's as usual.
