Best check all my direct debits then.

My neighbour is with natwest and he's had no problems, he got his wages Thursday as normal and has been using his account like normal so why are some accounts affected and not others?

scattykat - there's hints out there that this is affecting only people who didn't have money in their accounts

There seemed to be a brief period yesterday when it was caught up with is self/ seemed fixed, a transaction from Monday came through and I transferred some money from savings to current account with no problem last night. However nothing has gone in or gone out today. Maybe his wages went in during that window? I can still use my account, just nothing updating online.

I noticed this on the BBC : "The technical fault did not affect people who had pre-existing sums of money in their accounts yesterday. The banks' ATM machines are still working and branches remain open."

Also noticed that some people say they can access their money....are all the people being affected in their overdraft or have an empty balance?

At the moment it is not possible to send payments from Nat West / Ulster Bank accounts using online banking (RBS is now sending payments)

Faster Payments into accounts appear unaffected

BACS payments into accounts appear to be affected / delayed (I don't receive BACS payments to this account , so do not have first hand experience)

Is that money actually cleared and available? The only reason I ask is that I have transactions listed that are included in my account balance, but which are still not available funds.
Hiya - Yes, cleared and available, and I have trasnferred the money between my 2 Natwest accounts and the balance has been updated correctly on each account.

Hang on a mo while I check for definite in the full online ( I've been using my Blackberry app to check my balance and transfer the cash)

Yes - same on my 'full' online banking as well - transactions & available balance has been updated correctly.

(ETA - just to put in_the_blac's mind at rest, all my transactions were absolutely necessary - I needed to transfer a faster payment in and move some of it between my Natwest accounts - or else no money to cover bills going out. Wouldn't want to be accused of clogging the system unnecessarily:-) )

Not sure about anyone else but i have money in my account and am not in my OD and had no probs in getting my cash. It surprises me that people dont have a small amount 'put by' just in case things like this happen.

well i have savings in natwest as well as my current accounts, and my wages were not paid today. so thats that one.

however the branch were very helpful under what must be frankly cr*p working situations for front line staff, who know they will be the last to know anyway. branch were great and gave me cash without any issue, once they had checked that i would normal be expecting my salary today.
