My internet banking is now down...

I also phoned back at 4.15pm for an update as I was told earlier it would be fixed, the lady told me she had a memo from 12noon which said people wages were slowly going in and would be in by 7pm... i then challenged this as the two people I had spoken to in the afternoon neglected to mention this!!!!!! I dont know who to believe anymore.

Im going down the branch after work to try and get a cash advance, though fingers crossed because the internet banking is down it may mean that my money will be going in...

All the BACS payments are being processed manually at the moment so different people will see there funds at different times etc.
Im an ex employee RBS Group

My ESA isn't due in till Sat/Mon.Normally get it on Saturday but my local Ulster is closed tommorow,as it's a smaller branch & all the people there are going to the main branch for the weekend. The girl I spoke to said they're working Sunday too.
Anyway,I was able to withdraw £60 with my debit card, photo ID & a recent letter from the DSS.
I should imagine that if you take your pay slip in they'll five you some dosh.No PC systems were checked apart from seeing if my account was active,I was asked to input no PIN number either..
Good luck,my main worry was not having cat food for until the money went in & I'd run out of electric on Monday...

Soooooo my balance is basically at zero (yes I know i'm irresponsible blah blah) and my monthly wages were due to go into my account last night. Obviously that hasn't happened so I walked to the nearest NatWest branch (which isn't particularly close but any exercise is good exercise) and explained the situation.

They said no. As the funds weren't cleared before the technical error and my balance is at zero I can't withdraw anything until its fixed. I see the logic as they don't KNOW any money is due to go into my account so I could just effectively be taking money from them. Even if they looked at statements and saw regular wages were going in, how do they know I haven't left my job since then etc.

I asked how long it wuld take and that i'd heard it wouldn't be until Monday and the woman said it shouldn't take that long at all and they were working on it.

Just wanted to update you lot.

I got to my branch and managed to get some money out to last the week. I was so grateful to have cash in my hand! I am seriously considering changing banks or at least having an extra one at a different place with savings or something. That might be just a knee jerk reaction to the tresses of today though.

I will relax now and try to push all thoughts of December 2012 and the mayans predictions from my mind!

If it is simply a software update that has corrupted something then they should have had a regression plan and backed out as any IT dept would.

Personally think they should suffer the loss and make sure people have enough. Mind you they are owned by us and Moodys is not happy with them
  • This is of real concern to me; I am an employer for a small recruitment agency and our bank are RBS(who own Natwest); our staff are the lifeblood of our company and also live hand to mouth as a lot of the work we do is temporary work where staff are paid weekly. They are all very unhappy.

I know Natwest/RBS have said it's ok for our staff that have RBS accounts to take their wageslips in but this really doesn't help us with the staff who have non RBS/Natwest accounts. Do you know if the likes of Lloyds/HSBC/Santander are also honouring payments due from RBS/Natwest?
