Natwest Technical Issues

Soooooo my balance is basically at zero (yes I know i'm irresponsible blah blah) and my monthly wages were due to go into my account last night. Obviously that hasn't happened so I walked to the nearest NatWest branch (which isn't particularly close but any exercise is good exercise) and explained the situation.
They said no. As the funds weren't cleared before the technical error and my balance is at zero I can't withdraw anything until its fixed. I see the logic as they don't KNOW any money is due to go into my account so I could just effectively be taking money from them. Even if they looked at statements and saw regular wages were going in, how do they know I haven't left my job since then etc.
I asked how long it wuld take and that i'd heard it wouldn't be until Monday and the woman said it shouldn't take that long at all and they were working on it.
Just wanted to update you lot.
I very much hope thats true! Apparently the majority of paymt problems of wednesday night have been sorted (not all) so im guessing they are slowly getting to thursdays (mine was an 8am thurs) so hoping it wont take till monday and plus, im waiting for it to leave natwest and go into lloyds!!0 -

It really does seem to be chaos, as lots of people in your situation HAVE been able to get some money - as long as they can see that you regularly have a salary (or whatever) going in, they have been taking it on trust. So it might be worth pushing on that.0 -

Thanks - It's good to hear from someone who works at the Financial Ombudsman Service and gain some insight into how they manage their finances and deal with their everyday bankingI work for the Financial Ombudsman ServiceHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If I hadn't walked all the way there and back maybe I would! The funny thing is my statements show my wages come from the Financial Ombudsman Service so they should know i'm trustworthy (...nah that doesn't work really). My lovely housemate is going to sub me when she gets back from work so I won't starve or anything - its more of an annoyance and a bit embarrassing too.0 -

This is a false statement! I have been waiting for wages since Wed morning and these have not been sorted. Natwest have advised my employer that this will not be sorted until Monday at the earliest. So there is no way that transactions from Thursday will be sorted before transactions from Wed!0 -

My account was at £2 and I got £140 out, they've just taken it out of my bank again0 -
Nope, I don't do overdrafts or any credit cards for that matter.
I have funds due in tomorrow morning, aswell as wages that were due in today0 -
