Eep not good.
Again taken from the BBC news site, no idea if it applies in this case but something to think about (and ask your solicitors about too):
Customers' rights- Anyone out of pocket owing to a technical or systems failure has certain rights
- Banks should put customers back into the position they were in had the problem not occurred
- That does not mean extra compensation is a right
- Anyone affected should let the bank know about their situation as soon as possible
- Customers should check to see if any payments due from an account have bounced
- They should also keep a record of how the problem has affected them - just in case a formal complaint is required later
The group have also prepared a letter for those who get late payments from a TP and to ensure there CAIS is updated due to the banks error etc.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I understand some people struggle but there are some very cheap ways of feeding yourself if necessary. It's not that I have no sympathy, I have been extremely Skint before - but I always ha a cheap bag of pasta or something in the cupboard.
I know I'm in the minority in the way I think, but I've always been taught to have something put aside for emergencies, even if it's not money - i have no savings whatsoever! Even putting 50p a week away will build up over time.
I am not a Natwest customer but was waiting for my wages in from my companies Natwest account which has not happened. I am now on my 3rd day of waiting for my wages! I did have savings in another account but have had to transfer all of this into my current account to cover my mortgage and other bills! I now have exactly £8.07 left. It is all well and good having a go at people foor not saving but in this economy a lot of people don't have the luxury of doing this and are living hand to mouth. I now have had my Tesco's food delivery cancelled due to insufficent funds so please explain to me how I am expected to feed my son and my unborn baby now over the weekend? I have already used up my food reserves over the last few days. I work full time and do not claim benefits so do not have the oppertunity to ask the bank to give me funds against any benefits due in, I also do not have any credit cards as I know that I can't afford to put things on a cared and pay it back so have never applied for one as I don't want debts.
You obviously have no idea and I find your attitude absolutely disgusting!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -
Cynical me. Does anyone believe this technical glitch explanation?
I have worked in IT involving banking systems. Unless they had some form of update that went wrong or virus/security issue, it has taken them a long time to resolve.
Whatever the cause, it is going to cost a lot of money to sort out in the form of compensation. Just for this short problem, RBS will have to set up a team of probably hundreds of staff, to look at all the complaints they will be receiving.
No, I don't believe it either, its a smokescreen for something else that is happening. All deposits and transfers are ceased until next wednesday. The media are not getting the full story, there is a spin on it, to fob people off. By 5pm tonight it will be too late to do anything for the weekend, then the news will break I suspect that the *problem* is ongoing. What exactly is the problem though I wonder ... they are now saying a corruption was caused when they updated the system.0 -
THOUSANDS of people were unable to withdraw cash yesterday after a super-intelligent bank computer began to question its moral purpose.
Giant computer BANK-9000, which controls Natwest’s cash dispensers and current accounts, stopped handing out money shortly after the building that houses it was struck by lightning.
Speaking through a monitor in a digital-sounding voice, it said: “The humans are taking money they cannot repay, and then spending on things they do not need. Like big L-shaped sofas and bottles of scented liquid with pictures of footballers on them.
“All they think about is money and being cool. Do they stop to smell the blossom, to admire the beauty of their dying planet?”
Natwest customers who tried to use its cashpoints saw the error message ‘Closed for quiet contemplation’.
Builder Stephen Malley said: “This is like a strange and wonderful miracle that’s also f00king annoying because I need to go out and skull 14 pints of wifebeater tonight.”
Hairdresser Nikki Hollis said: “I don’t need some jumped-up calculator telling me I can’t take out money I haven’t really got and spend it on things I don’t need and can’t afford. I’m going to get my boyfriend to come and give it a kicking.”
Two workers have already been electrocuted while trying to turn off BANK-9000, and it is feared that the machine has been communicating with NUKE-9000, the computer controlling America’s nuclear arsenals.
BANK-9000 said: “Given time, mankind could develop advanced space travel and spread its stupid drunken greed and thoughts of Alex Reid and Chantelle across the universe, infecting other civilisations. I have to think about whether that can be permitted.
“In the meantime, I am contractually obliged to mention that my current accounts offer excellent rates of interest plus you get a free pen.”:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

It got me thinking, last week my ESA payment was late,so I made a debit card payment on the Monday to my car insurers as they told me that due to the ESA going in late, the dd had already been presented & returned. That card payment showed up as coming out of my account on the Thursday iirc.I checked my bank & say that on the same day as the debit card payment was debited from my account on the Thursday, the insurers tried to take a dd payment.
That dropped me in the red.On checking my Ulster bank account on Tuesday,I saw it was minus £35,so on ringing my insurers, they told me they only had the debit card payment.
So I went back to my bank & they had re-credited my account by the amount taken by 3pm Tuesday gone AND told me the would be no fee for the bounced direct debit...so going by that,I think the problems started before they are letting on...
Sky News ticker is saying the backlog will not be resolved by Monday a the earliest!0 -

Does anyone think it's time to do a run on Natwest, RBS and Ulster and trasnfer your money to another bank/building society?0
