Does anyone know if I can go to a branch to transfer some money to another Natwest account holder as their online payments system is down and would it get to that payee today?

Have you tried again? RBS online and mobile app wasn't working earlier but just allowed me to do a transfer.

With regard to those who said they have heard it won't be fixed until wednesday. Why do you think that is? I mean why such a specific day as wednesday?

Their systems must be up and running seeing as they are taking back cash payments if you got money out in branch so must be a case of backlog now

Still unavailable for me, I tweeted them the same question and they said if it did go through it could take 3 days to reach destination

I'm sure if I rang them up and said due to a "technical error" I am unable to pay my loan repayment, they'd have a few words to say!!!!!! Natwest are becoming an absolute joke these days.

Hmm just tried again, and my balance is unaltered from Wednesdays and statements etc are still unavailable. I am going to have to go into town and see if I can get some money out *sighs*

But surely if your account has an agreed overdraft which would cover the direct debits, then there is no reason for them not to be paid, as in that circumstance it wouldn't matter if your account went overdrawn?

Well, you'd think wouldn't you? My business has a £100k overdraft and the balance on Monday was over £200k in the black, so the chances that I have spent more than £300k in the past two day are slim aren't they? But they are still not letting transactions go through automatically.

They are, however, releasing cash to pay wages if the Relationship Managers authorise it for companies whose usual trading style would suggest they have the funds to clear it.

pipkd - is it worth giving the Ombudesmen a ring? - chatting through with your solicitor first what the worst case scenerio would be so you have all the info to hand before you ring them - now they may say you have to complain to bank first as per procedure but I think this warrants a different route - not sure
I would ask though it may be worth speaking to customer care and lodging a complaint anyway (again once you know all the details about extra costs etc) as at the moment they do seem very open to lodging any problems.

Todays update - yes it was sorted - today it has all gone wrong again as on some screens i have money on others i have none and on another im overdrawn - also a debit card payment that was declined yesterday has somehow gone through of its own accord today

so all keep a careful eye on your statements - if you can on a daily basis and watch no card payments go through that you were not expecting

I don't know, but there is something going on that they are telling certain people and not others. Our pay didn't go into FD this morning so I was on the phone to hubby at work complaining loudly. He meanwhile has over a 100 people chewing his ear as they had not been paid either. All bank with different banks but employer uses NatWest. Employer has said its nothing to do with them, then through staff pressure contacted someone at NatWest who said it would be Wednesday before credits could be made to individual accounts. He was originally told to tell them this, then after another phone call was told to tell them it will be sorted by 4pm today to shut them all up as wages dept. will be closed then and all back-office staff gone home.

I do believe from what he has told me in detail (briefly said it here) that it will be next week, Wednesday. Not sure what anyone can do to be honest, I am at a loss.
