Hallo everyone. There seems to be conflicting information regards cancellation of card details given to deadseakit.com and whether they can still debit an account via a new card number. My bank has advised that a debit can not happen in any circumstances once a card has been cancelled.

I have since spoken to another bank advisor and again it has been confirmed that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE CAN THIS COMPANY DEBIT A CANCELLED CARD. That, as far as I am concerned is the end of the matter.

Can I ask which bank/card provider this is please......

In some ways they are correct.... But all they do is request the NEW card details.....

    Look here
VAU makes it easier for issuers to retain cardholders by maintaining continuity in the payment relationship after account information changes occur.

Perhaps you need to go back and talk to the manager of these staff and remind them of Visa Account Updater....

Mastercard have exactly the same process in place as well.

My wife got done too, she saw the advert on Facebook while she was on her phone and never notice the T&C. Anyway she received the "free" trial yesterday, and was puzzled that there was not leaflet, no reading material on how to use the stuff, re-order etc. She started Googling the Alluredeadsea.com and realised that there was some type of scam going on (or call it what you want for the people that think that they are using fair practices).
She told me about it this morning, and called my bank (Halifax), they put me through the Dispute Department and I have explained to them the situation. It seems that they were aware of this type of companies. The agent told me that they will monitor my account and make sure that no money will be taken, I warned them about them using different names (from what I have read on some forums). They asked me in the mean time to email the Alluredeadsea company and tell to cancel any further order, to not debit my account (so far they only have taken the P&P amount), and to provide me with an UK address to return the products. They assured me that I am protected, will believe it 100% when I don't see any money taken. If it happens I will go to the extreme of closing my bank account.
It would be maybe a good idea to provide a recap on what to do for future people that get conned in this type of situation. And advertise as much as possible warning your friends, relative etc about such companies.
Any input and what else I could do to protect myself is more than welcome, those !!!!!!!s cost most of my Saturday morning trying to get it sorted

PS: I have taken screen shots of their website showing that I don't want automatic renewal

Unforturnately they probably will tell you to send the products back to an address in Israel and they wont accept them if they have been used, which isn't logical as how can you see whether you like the products without trying them first and whether you do want to purchase them, it says FREE Trial. I got in contact with the Advertising Standards Authority who could only get D S Marketing to make sure their T&C was clear to see by anyone ordering their products. I also tried Watchdog and Don't get Done Get Dom. I wrote to my local MP and he got in contact with the Trading Standards Service and when he hears from the Minister he will forward the reply to me. I told Facebooks about this scam company and that they use different product names in their advertisements on there and now they don't seem to be advertising any more. A number of us got in touch with Boots as they were backing them, I haven't seen any more adverts by them either. I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks, I really did not need that now, I can't blame my wife really, but they are really crafty. I believe in Karma anyway, one day they will get done big time

Even closing your account WILL NOT stop them from debiting if they want too.
All it will do is reopen the account.

Let Halifax do their stuff. And stop worrying. even if they do debit they will credit you back the amount they debit and claim the money back via the Visa system as a cancelled CPA (C/B 41) :D

karma is they get charged for every chargeback ;)

Thanks, I am a born worrier unfortunately :D. Well I will listen to you and put my trust with the Halifax. It is unbelievable really to see this type of deal going on. I saw that some people "blame" it on the customer for not reading the T&C, but really there are quite a few wrong things in this one, ie the return address to Israel, the fact that if you open the pack/pots you can't return it etc etc. You should be able as a consumer to cancel this type of transaction and not having to worry that they got the right to debit your account whenever it pleases them

Blame DOES lay at the feet of the person ticking I AGREE TO THE T/C.

The T/C of these companies is crystal clear as to what they will do. When you tick agree.

It is all very well worded in the webpages and people read into that, what they want to read... Not what the companies actually say.

If the companies take payment after you have told them to stop. Then under Visa/Mastercard requlation. You have a right to ask your bank/card provider to claim the money back. This is not a new thing, it has been a right for as long as I have worked in banking.

Even large well known co's still take payments after they have cancelled such as Consumer champion WHICH :rotfl:

I hate these co's as much as anyone else, as I have to pick up the pieces on a daily basis.
But they are doing nothing wrong in the 1st instance. It is ALL clear and above board.
People just do not read T/C when they tick I AGREE.....

Finally received an email from the Dead Sea company, it says

    Hi *****
We ship our products to our distributors in the UK, after that the packages are sent to you. We do not have an office in the UK and our distributors can't refundn nor cancel your account. The products have to be send back to Israel.
Thank you for getting in touch with us. I am sorry to hear that you want to cancel and return your trial Beauty Kit order, I hope you have thought that over and realize what you'll be missing out on.
To save ou time and hassle, I can offer to let you keep the kit for only £34.95. This is a great deal, as our 3-step Beauty Kit sells for over £120 at retail locations, so you'd get to have it for a fraction of its cost and not worry about return shipping and such associated costs.
If you choose to return the product instead, please send it here:
    Dead Sea Beauty Kit
    c/o Palom Dead Sea, Ltd.
    PO Box 5381

Please let me know how you would like to proceed, Ms. *****. We appreciate your business even though we are sorry to see you leave the Dead Sea Beauty Kit family.

Thanks dalesrider, so you recommending to send the parcel back using the cheapest option from the PO, that's not going to have a recorded/registered delivery obviously as it is a PO Box, they could just say that they have never received the package back, I have read in other forum that some people haven't bothered to send the samples back. I wish my wife never signed up for that stupid offer.
