Aqua Reward Credit Card - 3% cashback up to £100/year

  • Main attraction of Aqua is its £100 cashback. Credit limit of £500 is okay for that purpose.
With Aqua, I would spend £3333.34p plus may be another 12p (as a generous allowance to make up for their rounding off errors).
After that there are plenty of reward and cashback cards to make best of the money.

That's unless Aqua decide to up its cashback limit.
Any Aqua execs looking in; take note! :D

That's a fair point, however say I need to spend £1000, I could just get the 3% cashback from it, and get a bulk of it straight away. I recently paid £255 for repairs on my car, and if I was able to use the Aqua card (£250 limit) then I'd get 3% back, but considering I paid on my Capital one, I only got 0.5% cashback

You could have paid £250 on your card and £5 in cash. Most shops will allow this. However, my car maintenance bill was recently £359, and although I have a £500 limit on my Aqua card, I asked them a simple question "I can pay by card or I've got £350 cash". They accepted the cash deal. Thats about 2.5% cashback, but I got it there and then rather than waiting for Aqua and the possibility of losing it in the future, and considering inflation and interest, its probably the same.
  • Does anyone know if you can pay into the card? My credit limit is £500 but I want to spend about £1.5k over the next 10 days. I have the cash and am happy paying it upfront so the available balance on my card becomes £1.5k

I have done this on my CapitalOne credit card before but not sure if I can do it on this card. Anyone have any suggestions?

You can do 'faster payment' online, if you have an online account with your bank or building society.
You need to provide your bank with the following details:
    a. aqua Sort Code 80-20-45
    b. aqua Account Number 00213765
    c. Your reference number which is your 16 digit account number.

    also see
    http://www.aquacard.co.uk/customers/make-payment
Avoid paying from Aqua website. It takes 3 days.

You may find that a transaction is rejected if it exceed your credit card limit, no matter how much you had paid in advance.
So you may have to spend £1.5k in stages, paying in between each spend.

FP should take only a few minutes but make sure that your 'available to spend' is updated at your Aqua page before using the card again.

I have had mine about the same time but they said no increase just yet. I have checked before that even if you load your card you can only spend up to its limit in one transaction. Using faster payments soon tops it up so it is possible to spend much more than the card limit each day.

No post from them yet, so I guess that means no increase :(

I want to buy a new TV in a few months, and £500 is too low for such a purchase. Suppose I could split it, but I don't really want to.

If you'll get it in store, I wonder if you can get that TV on a 0% for 3 months or similar deal then pay "instalments" with your CC. Pay first instalment, do faster payment, pay second instalment, do another faster payment, watch the baffled faces of the people who take your payments :D
