I applied for an Aqua card 6 months ago and was declind. Today I have received a letter saying

'it's been a while since you last applied, we thought it could be time for ou to reapply. '

Similar situation here. First time I got declined, but I got accepted for a CapitalOne Secured card. After a while, Aqua sent me a letter like this, I re-applied, and they accepted me with a small 250 pound limit. Between re-applications though, I put myself on the electoral roll (edited version opt-out). I don't have any defaults, just a very shiny blank credit history.

Yeah the electoral roll might be important - I couldn't even get a phone contract as a 23 year old because, according to the credit checking agency they used, I wasn't on the electoral roll. I had voted in the 2010 election and also in the Alternative Vote referendum, so I don't know where they got their information from!

came across this comparison site. It claims to be "a Revolution in Credit Card Comparison".
    http://www.totallymoney.com/cards?v=5
Enter your details and it gives you a rating on a scale of 0-10

The site also has details of dozens of credit cards catagorised into 'Rewards and Cashback', 'Credit Builder' and many more.

Have to enter email address; so expect spam ;)

I've heard back from Aqua (in writing) and am pleased to report that I haven't forfeited my cashback, despite going slightly over my limit.

They simply re-iterated the T&Cs, said that I should have lost it, but that on this occasion they "weren't going to exercise the policy", adding that I wouldn't get away with it again.

So, good for them, and good for me not losing £65+ :T

How did you contact them? I sent them a message a week ago but not heard anything back.

Also, did they charge you the overlimit fee of GBP12?

    THIS may help.
You could apply then be sent the T&C's, until you send that form back signed you will be under no obligation
    .
Thanks, I've seen that page and it didn't help much.

Yes, I keep all the paperwork. I just CBA to read 3 pages of microscopic font instead of opening it on my screen and hitting Ctrl+F.
It's the first CC I know that doesn't have the T&C available online.

To be honest, I managed to read it without a magnifying glass, for once. OH thought it was strange bedtime reading material, but hey.

Had an issue today where my available credit was about £50 and I made a £150 faster payment at 16:18 as I wanted to make an online purchase of £160. I waited for my "available credit" to increase on the Aqua site, then tried to make the purchase, but it was declined. The purchase attempt was at about 17:30.

I then phoned Aqua at 17:40 who confirmed receipt of my payment, but advised that the transaction had been declined as my £150 payment "had not yet fully cleared." I was also advised that it should "fully clear" later on that same day.

So... It seems like they received my payment, applied it to my account and it showed as being available in "available credit" online, but actually it wasn't available! I haven't had this issue before, although I probably haven't tried to use the card so soon after making a faster payment.

Just thought it was worth flagging up in case it may help anyone else.

Very similar to putting a large cheque in a bank...will show as credit on the statement but you can still not use any of the money for about 4/5 days while the cheque is clearing !!

Then it's not really available to spend, is it?
