Anyway the transaction did not go through as a cash transaction, but as a purchase so cashback and bonus eligible.
Thanks for that as I was hoping to do the same thing. Could you tell me the maximum you topped-up by as I think I read somewhere that credit cards are limited to £50 when using them to purchase gift cards and the Asda savings cards are practically the same thing.0 -
To let you know whats involved, I picked up the Christmas saver card in Asda and activated it in store with a load of £5.00 cash. On Asda website I registered the card, 20p was taken from Aqua card & later refunded. Then had to wait for address verification from Asda which arrived by special delivery post 2 days later. Then went back on Asda site, input the verification code and loaded £139.00 in one transaction from Aqua to Asda card. The bonus day is 19th November this year so anyone who wants to do this will need to get cracking!0

That's great. I've already activated several cards and registered them and my address on the Asda site so I'm all set to go once my Aqua card arrives. Thanks!0 -
So you get a free £5 if you load £144? I"v been to the asda site and looks like you can purchase and load straight away?If I've help in anyway, please remember to thank me :-)0

It'll wipe out what is earned so far and be useless now until the card anniversary. It'll also be reported on your credit report that you exceeded your credit limit.
I pay my card off at the end of each week to prevent the balance getting too high and also means I automatically pay more than the minimum amount so hopefully never miss a payment (probably will now).
Just to follow up, I phoned Aqua yesterday to cancel my card after my inadvertent credit limit exceed and was told that they offer a 2 strike system. Let you off the first time, but second incident wipes cashback and no more until anniversary. I think its on a individual basis though, so best check if it happens to you. At this point I hadn't suggested I was phoning to cancel my card.
My cashback is still showing on my statement and was told in the event that a second strike did happen, it would be reported as zero on the following statement.

> 3 month total spend after refund credits = £1273.55
3% = £38.2065
Cashback should have been £38.21 (£38.2065 correctly rounded off)
But cashback given was £38.20
As it is, they work by running totals:
New running total = (3% of total spend so far) rounded down
so
Cashback added this month = (3% of total spend so far) rounded down - last month's running total
The rounding down means your temporary running total is up to 1p short. But the missing fraction is carried forward, so your total for the year still can't be more than 1p short. Which is moot at that point, so nothing lost at all."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
Hi, I received the card 1 week ago and I have some questions you might know how to answer.
1) If I set a direct debit paying the balance in full every month, can I still pay the balance every week by debit card?
2) I have a balance of 160£ (90£ available spend) and I have a "payment due date" on 8th November, with "minimum payment" 0.0£. Considering I activated the card just 1 week ago, is that just a first 0£ statement or should I actually already pay something?0 -

1) Yes. It will tell you when they decide what the direct debit will be on the website ("balance carried forward" or something) so you can avoid overpaying.
2) Nothing happened on my first direct debit payment date with £0 due.0 -

FYI. Paying with your debit card at their website take too long. A 'faster payment' direct from your bank takes just a few minutes.
2) During the first month, I also found the online figures confusing. Wait till you get your paper statement.0 -
