If he's used to US cards then one thing to be wary of is overlimit spending.
I believe in the US you have to "opt-in" to overlimit spending i.e. any spending that would take you over your credit limit will be declined unless you've opted to allow it (in which case you will be charged the usual fee for the privilege).
No such luck over here. The credit card companies are happy to let you go a penny over your limit and to then charge you through the nose for it (and in the case of Aqua, cancel all your cashback).0 -

On one occassion a resevervations was put on my card without my knowledge for out of stock items. The next transaction that would have taken me over my limit was declined.
Recently I got a text from Aqua telling me I was close to my limit.
So Aqua have made efforts to persuade and also physically stop me going over my limit.
In the first case I could have done it by accident as I was unaware of a reservation that should not have been there, so far from trying to avoid paying cashback, they ahve gone out of their way to help me.0 -
Answer to my question from AquaRefunds do not count as payments so full payment will be due.0

This has not been my experience with Aqua at all.

Sorry, my post was slightly misleading. The two statements were intended to be separate.
Card companies can allow overlimit payments, even if you'd rather they didn't. The behaviour of some companies in this regard may be questionable.
Aqua's terms state that if you go over the credit limit, as well as paying an overlimit charge you lose your cashback.
I have no experience of going over my Aqua card's limit and don't intend to find out. If Aqua are being a responsible lender then that's great news0 -
Quick question. Just got my card through the post and need to phone to
activate the card. I have a horrible feeling when i applied for the card that
they asked me to set up an account password?. If they did i can't remember it. do they ask for a password when you phone?0 -

yes they do.usually the first two characters!0 -
Nice to see one company stopping people going over their limit. I guess as all credit cards are offline they is a chance you could go over your limit still though. I wonder if Aqua will issue contactless cards anytime soon.0

I remember them asking me and I was pretty honest and said "No idea", they then decided on alternative security questions.0
