    I remember them asking me and I was pretty honest and said "No idea", they then decided on alternative security questions.

    they still ask extra security questions apart from the password.The main reason they ask you for a password while applying is to make sure that its the applicant activating the card!

    I had the same problem with a barclaycard some time ago and I had to go into a branch to activate it.
  • Suppose i will just have to phone them and see what happens! Do you remember if there was a password reminder question when you applied? ie mothers maiden name etc

    haha seriously u have no idea if u had provided a password nor there was a a reminder question?? goodluck lol x

    I saw people in this thread asking about raising the credit limit earlier, there's a thread on that here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4243213:search:

    Ok, thanks will forward it onto my son. Think he is a bit disappointed with the Uk reward cards haha, he was getting 5% on some things with a Discover card in the US.

    It appears the US Discover 5% cashback is subject to a maximum of $1500 purchases, or lets say £1000 ... meaning only £50 maximum cashback, unlike the possible £100 you get with Aqua.

    Isn't it easier to just pay what the statement asks for? Then you don't have to worry about what is or isn't a payment.
    If you have the money then yes it's certainly easier.
    If money is tight or the refund was large then it may be worth some extra investigation for example if you needed to take money out of an ISA then I think it would be worth the hassle of asking the question which was just a secure message.
    I was personally curious and like to understand how things work. I guess some of us are inquisitive by nature.

    THat was per quarter though. He got 5% on a different category of products each quarter and that 1500 of purchases only applied to each quarter.

    YAY DONE IT :-))))))

    I just got to £100.
    Actually what is interesting is my previous cashback and this months cashback added up to £99.99, but total cashback earned is £100.00.
    So good for them, no cynical rounding down to £95.

    The standard cashback rate on that Discover card is 0.25% on the first $3,000 and 1% above $3,000. The standard rate on the Aqua card is 3% - 12x the Discover rate :D - though of course with a generally lower credit limit.

    A quick check at https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/cashback-bonus/cashback-calendar.html?ICMPGN=STL_CBB_5CBB shows that the Discover card has a different promotion each quarter offering 5% on specific outlets:

    Jan-Mar: gas stations, museums and movies;
    Apr-Jun: restaurants and movies;
    Jul-Sep: gas stations, theme parks and movies;
    Oct-Dec: department stores and online shopping

    Good for movies for 3 of the 4 quarters but otherwise a bit fiddly to ensure 5% cashback. Some online retailers offer more.

    The Discover card offers just 0.25% for supermarkets, presumably (up to $3,000 general expenditure).

    I find a straight 3% cashback easier to understand.

    Pleased to report I got accepted (need to send proof of ID) with a 250 limit as far as I understand.
