Why, is the fact they keep moving the date of the cheque causing you financial difficulties?0 -
So much for all the talk about cashback not counting as payment. Balance of £26 due on 5th March, cashback of £99 credited a few days ago, and the minimum payment on my online account is now showing as £0.0

I was credited on 21st Feb with £100.
I actually called because of the quote above.
The person I spoke to was most confused as to why I might want to make payment.
Anyway I got her name, date and time (so that recording could potentially be checked) and she confirmed I don't need to make a payment.
My account also shows £0 minimum payment.
So it's all worked out fine in the end.0 -
I think one positive thing we can glean from this discussion is to take anything an Aqua says on the phone with a pinch of salt.
I didn't think a cashback could be used to pay the account's minimum payment ... at least that is what the written terms & conditions I agreed to state.0 -

I am relatvely confident that the Ombudsman would uphold my case for not paying a minimum when there is ZERO balance AND I spoke to someone and can back it up with name, data and time (and possibly a recorded conversation).
What you have said above may be correct when there is a balance.
Out of interest do you have the said text? I'm just wondering if there is anything that refers to a debit balance (which I don't have).
It would be a bit crazy to make a payment when you don't owe any money and the card is closed.0 -
Thanks for the info :-)
As there's zero balance and currently no mimumum paymen then I'm happy with the situation.
I think you are right to take what they say with a pinch of salt, so I'm making my own conscious decision.
I don't believe the ombudsman would uphold any term that forces someone to make a payment when they don't owe any money. Just because a company writes something doesn't make it legal or enforceable.
Out of interest if you were in my situation - zero balance, closed card, zero minimum payment showing - would you make a payment because of term 11.3?0 -
I didn't renew my card but now need to cancel a purchase (a game pre-order) made before 24 Janueary. What happens when the money is refunded to the card? Is it sent to me in a cheque? I have already fully paid off the balance and am awaiting my cashback cheque.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.0 -
I would hope they send you a cheque (maybe one).
However if you don't have it in a couple of weeks then I'd give then a call.
They have been shown to be a very badly organised shambles.0 -

I would endeavour to abide by the terms & conditions I agreed to when I entered into the agreement (and as subsequently amended)
Especially when there is £100+ at risk0
