Aqua Reward Credit Card - 3% cashback up to £100/year

Gah, already gave permission for my other half to rip my card up into pretty pieces. This has never happened, with Aqua nor with any other credit card of mine, that automatically reduce the DD to take into account payments to the account between statement and direct debit date. On many occasions I have made interim payments sufficient enough totalling in excess of the statemented DD, so no DD has been taken at all on those occasions.
My point is that Aqua, annoyingly, have not afforded that same treatment to the cashback, so they have caused themselves further work in that they now need to refund myself and likely others, with cheques that could have been avoided if they had reduced the direct debit, like they have done every other month.
This is likely what happened to bsms1147 because the cashback only appeared a couple of days ago - if his DD has already gone out then obviously the cashback was too late to affect the DD amount. My DD amount shouldn't be "locked" until today and I got the cashback last Friday so I should be fine, as with all previous Aqua DDs.0 -
I swear Aqua must be run out of someone's garden shed.0

So? Unless we know that they're actually going to continue giving 3% cashback (very unlikely considering they've gone to the trouble of closing the card), why does it matter that transactions still go through?
Indeed, Aqua always decreased the DD amount if you paid off some of the balance early. Pretty sure the T&Cs state that they work it out 5 days before the DD is due to come out, so any changes after that would be not accounted for in the DD amount. This is true for all credit cards AFAIK.

I paid for something of a quid on it - it went through!
They appear to be a very badly organised company.
Most of us won't be using it as we'll have better cashback deals elsewhere.
Personally I wouldn't use it for anything major that you want section 75 protection on as possibly you haven't got a contract.0 -
Sorry, I paid for something of a quid on it - it went through! i.e. bought something online.
The transaction is probably too small for the retailer to check the card is valid before authorising the order.
I think all your cards are closed - the T&C changes are because aqua's parent company has decided to change it's name..

Strange. A CPA transaction near the end of January failed despite "multiple attempts", so seemingly my account got closed.
Now I've just bought something through Paypal and noticed it took the balance from my Aqua card - and it was approved?!
What the heck?0 -

Could be, but if this is the case why do they appear to have renumbered closed accounts? (hence incorrect account ending numbers on their literature). If the accounts are closed then they have made a right foul up with this somehow."Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it": Ferris Bueller

When logging into the online accounts for both mine and OH's cards, it still shows £670 ish and £700 ish as available to spend, which is the credit limit plus the credit balance. Can't test the cards as we binned them on 22nd Jan - haven't taken up the new card, as have 1% cards elsewhere.0 -

Sorry, I'm confused.
I thought you said previously that cashback was credited before you were issued with a statement. So the amount you would therefore be advised would be the balance after taking off the cashback received.
As Aqua only credited accounts last Friday, then presumably you had your bill before the cashback was credited to have had the amount taken by DD in the meantime allowing for the required notice period.
I reiterate, anyone collecting money by DD can only collect the amount they have given you prior notice of (or not collect anything). To collect any other amount would be a breach of the terms of the DD scheme and would give you every rigfht to a claim under the DD guarantee meaning your bank would be required to refund the amount immediately on request.0
