  • Took the full DD today, so now I have to endure the palaver of banking a cheque. So much for crediting the account within 2 weeks of 22 January. Rubbish company. Why can't they do a bank transfer to where the DD came from?

I imagine they're hoping some people will lose or forget about the cheque and therefore not bank it.
  • Partner and I now both have accounts in credit, so waiting for cheques. You can now pay into a lot of accounts at Post Offices, so that might give you another option, or you could just post it to your bank if going to a branch is inconvenient?

I waited from the 3rd of February (my anniversary date) and did not get any credit into the account. Left it until the last day before payment (21st Jan) and paid everything off. Can't risk getting charged interest. So I'm joining the cheque waiting club it seems. :P

I'm in the same boat - my final transaction dated 20th Jan didn't generate any cashback, but when I phoned I was assured that the missing cashback would be credited on the next statement. I think another phone call is in order...

Sorted. As with others, they just manually credited the missing cashback to the account there-and-then.

It's a right palaver with mine. According to them I'm 48p off £100, with cashback of 78p owed from the 20th January, but they didn't sort it there and then. I was told there was a system failure as with the rest of you, and that it would all be ok when cashback was paid. I'm skeptical if that will happen or not.

As such, I again disputed my previous cashback for the statement on 15th January, where they seemed to give cashback up to £100, not count any additional purchases, and then remove 48p for a refund (without then using any of the additional purchases before that were not given cashback). The chap on the phone did the maths, agreed with me, and agreed to put it into their disputes team, even though this has already happened once. I wait with baited breath.

  • I'm due about £85 cashback and it's near its limit, with payment due on 27th...I'm not holding out much hope it'll be credited in time, so looks like I'll be making full payment by FP on Monday.

The cynic in me thinks they may be holding off crediting the cashback in the hope that people leave a balance equivalent to the CB on their account, prompting an interest charge to become due...
  • Got to review my latest statement today, and yes it was short on the cashback earned that month.

I made a final transaction posted to account on 21 Jan for just over £200 ... so that should have earned me at least £6 cashback alone. (I didn't get to £100 maximum). So I knew something was wrong when the cashback amount was less than a quid for the last month.

On closer analysis it appears that the transactions other than the one on 21 Jan earned me cashback at 3%, but the final transaction was not included for some reason.

So I called the credit card company. Not a pleasant experience. First of all the guy didn't even listen to my question and simply said I would receive a cheque next week for the cashback I was due.

So I explained again that the cashback stated as due according to the latest statement appeared wrong and so could he explain to me how it was calculated.

He had to go away and ask. He came back and said the cashback amount dropped from 3% to 0.5% w.e.f. 21 Jan.
I disagreed with him saying the letter I received said the cashback rate wasn't due to change until 22 Jan (I never even mentioned I failed to agree to the reduction, but he knew the account was closed) I suggested he would like to re-check the dates.

    We went away again.

When he came back he asked if I would be happy with a £5 credit. I said I'd be happier with receive the cashback I believe is due to me, i.e. 3%

He said I already had earned 0.5% on the £200+ transaction of 21 Jan. So I suggested we start again.

I asked him what 3% of the transaction values was ignoring the £200+ transaction on 21 Jan. He struggled with that, so I gave him a clue i.e. the answer, i.e. the amount shown on my statement as earned for that month.

I asked him what 0.5% of £200+ was. He had to go away again but came back with the answer. He said it came to just over a pound.

So I asked how come if what he was claiming was true, was the total cashback I earned for last month less than 1 pound according to the statement they sent me.

    That confused him.

So I suggested he looks into all this and sends me a full written response as to how the cashback has been calculated, and provides evidence as to why it is not 3% of the transaction values for that month.

First he agreed, but then he thought about it. He asked if i really wanted it in writing. I said yes please. That worried him, so he said how about a credit of £10 instead.

I said ok, that'll do.

I'm now wondering if I could have pressed for more. More importantly, he said he would apply the credit to the account (which is obviously closed). I'm now wondering what value cheque I might get next week. What's the betting it'll be missing the £10 credit?

So as others have suggested, do check your last statement carefully, ensure you get the cashback you are due, and don't let them try and palm you off with excuses.

Oh and has anyone else noticed they cannot access their online account anymore? (assuming you have not accepted the 0.5% cashback offer)

    UPDATE -Cashback Cheque?
:rotfl:Just called Aqua - Sunday 09.02.14, my cashback will be added to my account in due course, if a zero balance, then it's up to me to contact Aqua customer service and they will then credit my Bank Account with this amount. If I do nothing, they don't send a cheque - so check your account for a cashback credit!

That's not what he told me. He said people should receive a cheque next week ... and I didn't even ask that question.
