Yes - other posters are reporting this is because of very low takeup of the new offer and therefore a high level of payout required now.

Not really a surprise though really is it?

Although it does seem to be a surprise for Aqua.

It seems that when they dropped the cash back from 3% to 0.5%, they expected most people to stay? I hope that wasn't their business plan - "attract with 3%, then drop to 0.5% and hope they stay"

Although if they had just dropped the cashback rate without forcibly closing everyone's account and making anyone who wanted to continue using the card re-apply for it, they probably would have had a much greater take-up.

Just received my statement in the post today, and the total cashback is only showing as £96.04.

It looks like the final transaction, dated 20th January on the statement, for £133 didn't generate any cashback.

Spoke to Aqua about this, and after speaking to her supervisor, the lady said that they have had a lot of people with similar complaints about individual transactions not triggering cashback this month, and that it would be corrected on my next (and final) statement.

She sounded a bit bored, but was polite and absolutely professional - no complaints at all CS-wise. I've experienced far worse!

Maybe that was their intention, but they didn't formulate the T&Cs properly (kinda like Nationwide did with their 4% ISA), so in the end they had no choice but to get everyone to accept new T&Cs or close their accounts.

Letter from Aqua in the post today!!! Eeek, excitement!! All sorted, I thought.

But no, it's actually two whole sentences on headed paper, thanking me for contacting them and asking me to call them again.

I originally contacted them four weeks ago because they messed up the cashback, but then spent more money to get the £100 anyway.

    Good grief.

    Pop quiz:

    My final aqua statement
    10th Jan spent £12
    15th Jan refund £28
    20th Jan spent £42
Guess how much cashback I earned?

    -86p?!
    I think....

My closing balance is £249.41, which should earn £7.48 cashback. The statement shows £6.68, which leaves total cashback at £84.98 - which will get rounded down to £80- fuming here

I'll wait to see what the pay out is - won't bother if it's a few pence out, but will if it's rounded down to £80.

Nice to see in the meantime you have stopped fumigating :rotfl:

But I would urge you to report any issues to the credit card provider as soon as you identify them.
You could always donate the 80p missing to a good cause if you don't want it yourself. Don't forget Gift Aid :)

I just called to ask the same question - I was originally told the cashback *would* be sent on the 22nd (or thereabouts) of Jan and it'd take 2 weeks to arrive.

Now it *should* be sent on the 17th of February, which is nearly a month later!

Spoke with Aqua today and they tell me they have decided that those who did not take up their new card will receive the credit on their account two weeks after the 17th February
  • UPDATE -Cashback Cheque?
:rotfl:Just called Aqua - Sunday 09.02.14, my cashback will be added to my account in due course, if a zero balance, then it's up to me to contact Aqua customer service and they will then credit my Bank Account with this amount. If I do nothing, they don't send a cheque - so check your account for a cashback credit!
