The 1-year anniversary of when I applied for the account was this week

I don't think the anniversary is when you applied. I think it's account opening and usually is the same as the statement date (unless you moved or chose the statement date).
because the 1-year anniversary has passed

    Are you sure?
This sounds like a date you've recorded yourself rather than one from the Aqua internal process.
The best way to know for sure is to ask Aqua.

I think it's coincides with the statement.
Not pedantic at all if you can get more cashback in the 2nd year.
Can you delay any of the expediture or not?

Sounds pedantic but I have an awful lot of expenditure this weekend, and am currently assuming aqua wouldn't give me cashback for it ...[/QUOTE]

A lot of expenditure!! then always make sure you use Quidco or Topcashback so you also get cashback from them as well as the Aqua card

    then always make sure
    Always?
Can you use this is a physical shop? hotel? restaurant?

    Just checking

I agree that it's a good idea to check if you can use this for on-line purchases.

I've had cashback from both Quidco & TCB (sometimes even on the same item purchased :D) when buying instore. You just send them a jpg of the appropriate receipt.

e.g. Quidco are currently offering £1 off a £20 or more shop at any of the large supermarkets :)
(usually its for specific products though)

Thanks all, the "anniversary" date I was referring to was the one I recorded when I applied online. Will SM Aqua as suggested. Normally I'd feed back the result to a thread, however with less than 2 weeks remaining for us all and few if any likely to be in the same position as me, there seems little point this time!

I received an e-mail the other day from Aqua reminding me that the card will stop working on 22 Jan but that I could still send in the form and get it reactivated..

Has anyone else who has already opted to keep their Aqua card received the same e-mail?

I did call them and after a bit the operator claimed they had a backlog in processing the forms so it was likely that my card would stop working on 22 Jan and then start again 'after a few days' once they have processed the form.

However, the answer didn't exactly fill me with confidence as I was on hold for a long time and its already been 5 weeks or so since I sent in my form (and I've currently travelling overseas so can't keep calling them)

    Regards

My husband and I both received that email on Tuesday morning this week and we also both received a text from them stating the same. However we telephoned yesterday evening and the person we both spoke to said they had received both of our applications and that they both had been processed and that our accounts would remain active after the 22nd. They also said it was a standard text and email that was sent to everyone.

The first I knew about the change to the card was when I got a text about half an hour ago telling me that my card will be stopped on 21st January. When I called customer services she said that letters were sent out in November but they're getting a lot of calls from people who never received them. I've now got to wait for them to send me new forms (which I won't get for a while as I'm not home til next weekend and they can't send them to a different address) and probably have my card not working for the last week of January, which is always a fun time to have no credit available...

Do you recall how long ago you sent your forms to them?

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but...

I have an Aqua card, anniversary date is in June. When I found out the card was to be closed I made sure that I earnt the max £100 cashback before it was.

Just called up to go for the new card (as I want an non-American Express cashback card) and have been told that as I've already earnt the max cashback, I won't earn any more until my anniversary date (in June, so any purchases inbetween won't get me a penny), and that the cashback I've already earnt won't be applied until June as well!

Alternatively, I can not get a new card, and get a £100 cheque in the post within 3 weeks. Easy decision unfortunately.

In the paperwork sent nothing mentioned this though which I feel is a little cheeky!
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.
