I thought it would be helpful to post what the leaflet actually said

    It is helpful.

It would have been even more helpful to share you plan of having enough balance on the card to eradicate the whole cheque problem, but don't worry I've shared that now.

Phew - hair still on :-)

And a statement in another thread which stated that the cheque would be sent out on the anniversary of opening the account.

According to the leaflet the cashback will be paid out "approximately" two weeks after account closure if the account is closed or on the anniversary date if you take out the new card.

"... the difference will be paid to you by cheque"

But is does not say when the cheque will be issued.
  • One would assume that the preceding sentence of two weeks after account closure would also apply to the issuing of cheques if the account moves into a credit balance.

I enjoy pedantry as much as the next guy, but really, I'm pretty sure any reasonable interpretation of that leaflet wouldn't conclude that they will delay to account anniversary.

Hypothetically, if aqua are silly enough choose to interpret differently, I think the financial ombudsman might be keen to have words.

    Agreed.
I think problems are unlikely but the simplest way round it is to run up a balance to the amount of the cashback or more.

I had to call Aqua today about something - so I asked them if they had received my application for the replacement card (as I plan to keep it).

They told me it wasn't showing on their system despite me posting it almost a month ago.. so they said they would add a note to my account..

    Regards

A question for those who have already seen their anniversary come and go.

The 1-year anniversary of when I applied for the account was this week. My statement is not due until next week. I am at £100 cashback.

When can I start earning cashback again? Is it now, because the 1-year anniversary has passed, or is it next week, after my 12th statement has been issued?

Sounds pedantic but I have an awful lot of expenditure this weekend, and am currently assuming aqua wouldn't give me cashback for it ...
  • Send a secure message to Aqua asking what your cashback anniversary date is. They will send you a letter confirming the date. Mine was not what I thought it was. But time is running out because 22nd January is fast approaching.
