I have just had my card declined when attempting to pay AA subscription, anyone else had this?

Yes, there was a thread last summer about how sensitive Aqua were to block/refuse transactions

I sent a secure message to aquacard asking how the outstanding cashback will be paid (I'm not applying for the new card with them). I've never tried communicating with them before, and can't see that there is anywhere when logged on to view any reply to a message sent. Does anyone know how they reply (I've not had a letter, phone call or email from them since sending the message last week)? I vaguely remember from the info they sent out when advising they'd be ending this particular card that they'll send by cheque, but not sure if that's the case.

Just rang CS and was told that the cheque won't be sent out until the anniversary of account opening date, which for me will be October. Flippin' long wait just to get back the cashback owed, not impressed with them. Glad not renewed with them and have Luma's 4% card now.

Can't be bothered to find the leaflet now but I'm sure it said they would send the cheque two weeks after they close the account.

Didn't realise the Nationwide Select card had 0% on purchases for 15 months...that's an added bonus to the 0.5% cashback since I can keep my money earning 3% in the meantime. So not much worse overall than what I got from this Aqua card. :)

    From the Aqua leaflet
If you choose not to transfer and your account is closed, any cashback you've earned will be paid into your account approximately 2 weeks after closure. If this payment moves your account into credit, the difference will be paid to you by cheque.

However it doesn't say when the cheque will be paid.

Better make sure you spend £100 or whatever you've earned in the final month then. :)

Jeez, it's like consipracy theorists corner here.
If you are worried then about Aqua keeping your cash then why don't you build up a balance of £100 (or whatever your cashback amount is) in between your last statement and Jan 22nd when the card is closed.
It's usually possible to even get it down to the penny when using a fuel pump.

Otherwise I expect there will be some administrative delay whilst they print the cheques and put them in envelopes, but I don't imagine they will keep hold of your money for more than a couple of weeks, but if it's REAL important to you then spend it first !!

Are you trying to scremonger or make this deliberately difficult luci?
Surely just spending the money is easy - adjust your weekly shop or visit to the petrol pumps.

Sorry to be a bit ranty but getting fed up with daily consipracy theories when these cards have simply given away money.

Keep your hair on. It won't affect me one iota as I will have enough balance on the card for the cashback to be credited against.

I posted in reply to this post.

And a statement in another thread which stated that the cheque would be sent out on the anniversary of opening the account.

Rather than speculate about what was or wasn't stated by Aqua, I thought it would be helpful to post what the leaflet actually said. Obviously I was wrong.

I added the part about it not saying when the cheque would be issued as I expected that to be the next question.
