Just an update for anyone, if you have a direct debit set up in FULL, and you make a payment before the direct debit is taken, they will reduce the DD.

I made a payment 10 days before the DD was due, and they have reduced the DD accordingly.

Don't know the cut off days before DD for them to alter the DD, but hope this helps....

Have been watching this thread for a while and waiting until my £100.00 credit had been deposited, so my input: -

    Accepted for card July 2012.
First spend on card 16th July 2012.
    First statement,(paper), dated 17th August 2012.
Statement dated 18th June 2013 has my cashback as £98.50.
    I have spent £53.10 since Junes statement @ 3% cashback = £1.59, added to £98.50 = £100.09.

Have just looked online at my statement dated 17th July 2013 and cashback of £100.00 has been credited.

In their T&Cs 11.3 they state: "We will pay cashback by crediting your account or sending a cheque for the amount of accrued cashback within 1 month of your anniversary".

From reading this thread I have not seen anyone receive cashback by cheque, so it looks like Aqua decide how to pay and that will be by crediting the account thereby putting it into credit, assuming debits have not been made to reduce this, i.e. with me, not knowing exactly when the cashback would be credited, I only used it sparingly for the last month, and as such my balance, after the cashback, is £67.71 in credit.

Why won't they send a cheque? Personally I would prefer this.

Never noticed the cheque line. It seems standard practice across the industry for cashback cards to load the cashback onto the card. You then have to continue use the card, which gets them their retailer fees. Whilst the 3% continues, we'd presumably all continue to use the card regardless into the 2nd year - but if it ended, this is just a way of prolonging the usage.

I believe you are entitled to phone and ask for a cheque for the credit balance (if you quote T&C 11.3 then they should have very little choice). It's just often easier to just spend it straight off the card.

Wish I'd seen that cheque line before I spent the cashback. No doubt we don't get 3% cashback on this £100 spend so I'd rather have it in Santander 123...

Why no doubt? It says nowhere the cashback itself doesn't qualify you for further cashback when you spend it. It's spending that qualifies you for cashback.

It also doesn't say that it does, but you may have a point. I had assumed that they wouldn't give us cashback on money they had put into the account, and call it credits or something. Like when refunds mean you don't get cashback on the initial spend for example. Otherwise it'd be like giving us £103 instead of £100. Who knows.

Funny stuff: I bought a train ticket this morning, and now I checked my "available to spend" and it doesn't have the transaction earmarked. It always reduced my "available to spend" before. I hope it's just a fluke.

So petty !! Does it really matter if you get 3% cashback on £3.

    Come on....

It was actually 3% on £100, which is £3 total. I know it isn't a lot, and I am hardly complaining about it. I was simply stating that if Aqua load £100 onto your card that is ineligible for cashback, it stops you earning cashback when you spend money, and so you have to get through a buffer amount before you can earn cashback.

I have no intention of doing anything other than contributing to a discussion. It's not like I'm going to complain about it or throw accusations of unfair play around the internet.

I have just spoken to Aqua and asked the question re the £100.00 cashback credit and does it qualify for cashback and was informed yes it does, as cashback is for purchases and as long as you purchase something then the cashback applies.

I also asked why they do not put the cashback totals on the online statements, and was told "I don't know but will pass it through for consideration".

I then asked why cashback totals are on the online statements but only if account holders have gone paperless,( as I am sure someone mentioned getting paperless statements), and was told they do not offer paperless at the moment, but will be doing so in about a months time.
