I always used to choose "pay by direct debit" through their website in the past but that always took few days to register on aqua account.Yes! When you are running short of credit avaialble, making an FP direct from your bank/building society is the best way to avoid going over the limit.
Before spending, make sure to check online to make sure that the FP is showing in your Aqua account.0 -

If I make faster payment now, are they are still going to take the amount requested on the statement? Does that mean that I would be in credit for the amount I did faster payment for?Yes!When you are running short of credit avaialble, making an FP direct from your bank/building society is the best way to avoid going over the limit.

sorry guys but I am getting a bit confused with all that now.

We are all confused on this matter. There's no official communication, but the DD collection isn't working the way it did prior to website update - that's all we know. Prior to update, they took the statement value by DD like clockwork, regardless of other payments. After the site upgrade it's been surreal.
My next statement will be generated at midnight, and I'll get it in the mail in a few days. I wonder what I'll see on it, given that they didn't take my previous statement DD at all, but they didn't add any charges to my account yet either. I had a covering payment go through on the edge of the previous statement (prior to generation, but posted to statement after), and I wonder if that made a difference.
Edit: My statement has already rolled over online. There are still no charges regarding the not taken DD.0 -
I still cannot understand what charges you expected.
You made a manual payment that was bigger then the minimum one (and even bigger than the full one) after the statement was produced. I don't see anything that they might charge you for.0 -

Late/missed payment charges. That's the thing I'm on the lookout for, mainly because it's not clear what the game is now with the DDs. At least to me it isn't...
Why I'm obsessing over this? Because I think I remember reading about other people getting slapped with late/missed payment charges in the days of full statement balance DDs even though they had paid the statement early - or over minimum payment anyway - by FP as well.0 -
The way they handle rounding errors suggests that they do a total of your qualifying spending for the year. Your current cashback is 3% of that, capped at £100. Your cashback for the month is the difference between that and whatever they told you last month.
This suggests that this situation could arise if the new computer has applied a different rule to the old one for any transaction during the year - and there's no way of knowing which month to look at.
Could there have been a transaction at some point that was originally classed as a purchase but is now being counted as a cash advance?
No I dont think so, it's mostly supermarket, petrol station and hotel spending on there. Although even if it did you'd think that the extra £200 spending in the 12th month would be more than enough to compensate.
They're sending out a written explanation now, apparently.0 -
It just gets more and more bemusing as it goes on!
Statement on 15th, paid by debit card on 16th (others had reported issues with DD), so now my minimum payment on my online account is £0.00. That normally doesn't change after you've paid. Ok.....
£100 cashback has been credited to my account. I'm definitely in month 11. My first statement came in September last year. Ok....
As I have a £500 limit, paid the balance in full on 16th and had £100 cashback credited on 17th, I should have £600 available. Well, no. It's £599.02. Go figure!!
Edit: ah dammit. Spent 98p last night. That'd explain the available credit!0
