Third party cover - hit by another car

I know what you mean, but you have to get into the mentality of remembering that it doesn't matter that your car does half the mpg when you paid a fraction of the price for it. Yeah fiestas are good. That clio looks alright, its an auto though, which I presume you don't mind...
Won't affect NCD but may affect your premium slightly because some insurance companies are !!!!!!!s like that.
Hi rev_henry. I found a good dealer locally and just had a good feeling about him (as well as him being recommended by someone who bought from him a year ago). He doesn't sell anything much less than £2k and he has a Hyundai Getz coming in on tues which I'm going to see. Wasn't my choice but thinking about it it would be ok for me for now - reliable make and with 57000 on the clock. He gets them direct from Hyundai. He had a lot of cars I liked the look for with FSH and MOT but they were a bit above my price range. He had a Ford Focus which I could afford and I know they are good cars but it's much bigger than I need. it probably sounds silly but he provides warranties on everything (I know there are loopholes with these) but it's in a really nice village, just appears "above board" if that makes sense and is very different to a place I went to yesterday in Dunstable. A bit of a dive and as a woman buying on my own I just can't cope with these cowboys!:D. I could of course go for a private sale but I just feel insecure about this, and they get snapped up quickly too. I don't have anyone who knows about cars to come and look with me, otherwise think I'd do that. Decided to up my budget to £2k as i've been driving a scrap heap around for so many years, I deserve a bit more than this and I need something fairly quickly so if i like this car on Tues I'll probably go with it, can always sell it on next year if I have more money then to go for something more stylish.;)
Yeah, bad but it wouldn't surprise me if my premiums go up. Insurance companies probably blame all the false claims etc driving up the cost but they are a bunch of what you say..0 -
Thanks Bedsit Bob. I have upped the budget, you are right - I was lucky with my last car but now need to pay a a bit more for something that looks a bit better and also is going to have more of a guarantee of being in a better condition.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »I think you will struggle to find a <£1,000 car with a service history.0 -
Sounds like the kinda place you won't get the bargain of the century from but will get good honest service and isn't a fly by night operation. Getz is a good car.AliceBanned wrote: »Hi rev_henry. If I were you, I'd think twice about ever going TP again.
Comp is far less hassle.0 -

It didn't make any difference in this case as I was not at fault. As I know I'm a good driver and I had an old car I didn't want comprehensive cover, it just wasn't worth it but as it isn't much difference in price any more I don't mind going fully comp.0 -

Thanks - I read some reviews and it sounds ideal car for me at the moment. Reliable make and good value, just a sensible choice, no frills.

Hi
Gave it a test drive this morning (the Getz) but wasn't too impressed. they've put it on at 2495!!. When I came back from the test drive not enthusiastic they quickly said a deal could be done as they knew my budget was around £2k. They have a Fiesta which I can see on Mon which sounds ok but I've been to three other dealers and am beginning to a get a feel for a) how they operate and b) how much over the odds I'd be paying if I paid anything near their asking price.
Saw this just now;
http://www.leonhowmancars.co.uk/ViewCar.aspx?stockNumber=5395
it has been reduced to £1695 and apart from smelling of tobacco I thought it might be reasonable. They would do MOT if I go ahead and all included in the price. I would try to driveit down to 1500 I think. What do you think? Would suit my needs and I'm quite comfortable with Fiestas. Saw another one, a Ka which I'll post in a minute. Thanks quite enjoying shopping around as I realise it's really a buyer's market. But would rather have wheels fairly soon so can't keep looking for weeks on end, but also don't want to buy in a panic. I'm not in a panic and am making that obvious to the salesmen.:)0 -

Very possible! £750 quid and room to wiggle. If it was nearer I'd snap his arm off.
Worth £250 as scrap!

Might have a look at this on Mon. No service history at all however. Don't usually like Ka but it is higher spec one.0
