Third party cover - hit by another car

Thanks rev_henry.

The Fiesta Equipe on here £449 is same model as mine but mine has 5 doors. they are offering me £400 or £360 if I keep mine. Difficult to argue though as this one says £68 mileage - that must have gone round the clock! But they are advertising it as this.0 -
Just phoned and he said it is genuine mileage and has some service history. Even so they are asking £50 more than I am being offered. It's going to be harder for me to haggle for any more so I'm better of trying to keep mine until end of year. Will see what comes up this afternoon in MOT. The third party's insurers did encourage me to write with egs of other vehicles, I guess I could persuade them to raise the payment a bit but it's lots of hassle. I'm not going to spend any more time on it, just going to write to say mine is proven clean with FSH etc. Thanks0

I meant 68k mileage:)0 -
Failed on loads of things. The rear is too damaged - floor is damaged at the rear. Also things unrelated to accident - power steering, hazard light, fog light, front headlights. steering bit alone £200-300.
So scrapping it today/tomorrow and will have to try and get more from insurer if I can and also start looking asap..:(0 -

Yes just write to them and pester them, threaten the FOS if you like. They can only say no, but will probably offer, even a little bit more.
That Fiesta looks bloody clean! Has almost certainly been owned by a young lad with those speakers and HiFi, only a minor point - he may have thrashed it. OTOH your tunes will sound very good.
Reminds me of my parents G reg 1.1 version, behind which we used to tow a dinghy many moons ago!
These cars are pretty old (if very good) though now, try and get something newer if possible.
Surprised I am your only friend on this thread - obviously everyone else is bowing to my superior knowledge.0 -
Oh dear. That's the end of that then. Unless your MOT tester is dishonest, did you take it to a trusted garage/council MOT centre? Sounds pretty fatal though.

I think it is a reputable place. There were problems with the steering some time ago. He said to me on the phone that he recommended scrapping it but could have made money out of it by doing the repairs but felt it was for scrap. It is quite rusty now and looks worse since the accident. Fairly glad to say goodbye to it. Looked back at my old records - 6 years ago I paid £360 for it.. Maybe like a painting it has risen in value..an aesthetic piece.:D

Oops no I paid £300 for it 6 years ago, with one year MOT but no tax. Can't say Fiesta's aren't good runners..0

Is a category D more expensive to insure?
i can't send a link as just saw when walking by a local garage, and he doesn't have a website. It's a 2003 Corsa, 1.3, high mileage (99000) and has cat d from damage to the offside front wing. body and under bonnet look fine, a tiny bit of welding which he showed me. He has another Corsa he's going to show me on Fri, also being repaired but not serious damage, 30k miles, about £1800, also 2003 I think. Not test driven either yet anyway. Looking in the local area, there's very little so far.0 -
Third party's insurance have phoned saying I can't keep courtesy car after tomorrow. Accident was on 16th and I haven't agreed a settlement yet. I phoned to say I'd sent details by first class post yesterday. They may not raise it anyway. I also needed time to MOT my car etc and find out the true damage. Apparently if I don't "need" a car then it won't be extended, something like that. I live somewhere with no public transport after 6pm. What about my safety walking the streets late at night?!!:mad:0

I may try and get more but now need to get money from them asap to buy another car. They have asked me to send in my FSH and adverts of similar cars - this one with much lower mileage may no count. yeah I'm sure it's been thrashed. But they are asking £449. I have been advised to spend nearer £1500, to get away from the real crap out there, which is fair enough. I can find the money just about. It is also the time I need to look though..
