Chip ISA has appeared again at 4.99% with 12 month bonus

    Nice rate for a year
New customers: The 12 month 4.99% AER (variable tracker), is a temporary boost rate (+0.93% AER for 12 months) and is only available to new customers who join Chip using a valid promo code. The offer began at 16:30 on 23 May 2025. See the terms here.

Not exactly for one year but perhaps fairly stable for a while as there may only be one more BOE rate reduction. Fairly competitive for sure.

Reference Chip’s new ISA rate of 4.99% for one year bonus; I have a Chip ISA at 4.07%. Obviously I cannot get this new rate of 4.99% being an existing customer.
Anyone know what happens if you transfer out of Chip and close the account, can you then reapply as a new customer?

I think this has come up before and someone said if you use a different email address you can sign up as a new user.

Not tried it myself but I might if Tembo reduce their rate.

You'd need a new mobile phone number to get past step one of being a new user.

Once through that you'd have to hope that they don't check your name, address or NI number belong to a previous customer. The email address being different is a given.

    Yep, that'll work.

Don't know if banks have access to HMRC's NI check service (it's certainly available to operators of registered payroll systems), but in any case it's probably fraud to declare a wrong number.

Worth the risk for an extra 1%? I wouldn't.

Tembo cash ISA still advertising an interest rate of 4.80%. The warning that it's reviewing its interest rates has disappeared.
