Clydesdale Cash ISA Fixed Rate Bond - Web Applications will be accepted up to 5 days following any withdrawal of the offer

Just a quick note for those who were wondering if downloading the transfer form and posting it would be successful.

I posted mine on the 13th April – the day it was withdrawn and have received a letter today “ to assure me” that the ISA is “secured” and I will receive confirmation within 14 days to confirm the account is opened.

Reckon others will be receiving their letter soon.

They sent me two letters saying the saame thing dated the 9th and 10th when they hadnt announced it was to be withdrawn.

Nationwide Champion ISA: 2.8% variable, accepts transfers in, unlimited deposits, one free withdrawal per year, thereafter 60 days' notice or loss of interest, minimum £1000 balance.

Slightly unusual interest rate arrangement: "Every month we find the five highest branch based cash ISA interest rates from a group of 8 high street banks. … The average of the five highest rates becomes the Champion ISA core interest rate for the next month." This core interest rate is currently 1.45%, but there's a 1.35% bonus until 30 June 2011, giving a total current interest rate of 2.8%.

Info for anyone in a similar situation: I transferred from Lloyds TSB ISA to National Counties BS 45 day notice ISA. Lloyds account closed and only 2 days later the money had been applied to national counties. This is good! I read somewhere that Lloyds were doing transfers electronically, but when speaking to them the woman on phone thought it would be by cheque still. Anyway I hope this helps someone.

Lloyds certainly aren't doing them electronically to NCBS. Electronic transfers only apply BETWEEN the few members of the pilot scheme which doesn't involve any small building societies.

MiserlyMartin's post points out that all this moaning about transfers by cheque is missing the point - it's not the method that's the problem, it's the processing speed at the two institutions involved. There's no reason why a postal transfer cannot arrive the next day by first class post which is quicker than a BACS payment.

An email received from customer services today in case anyone wants explicit reassurance:
Thank you for your email today regarding your application.

You will still be able to make a larger deposit at the end of the year. An example of how you may operate the account might be 10 x £100 + £4100.00 at the end of the year = £5100.00 for 2010/2011 tax year and this will all qualify for the bonus.
