Hi,
Thanks for the informative post :j I am looking aorund to set up a new ISA for me and my other half.
My husband has never had an ISA before so we were considering a regular saving ISA. WE bank with First Direct so I had a look there first
http://www1.banking.firstdirect.com/1/2/rates/fd/savings-accounts
I see no mention of the First Direct Regular Saver ISA in this thread. It pays 7% for a 1 year fix (I think, unless I am missing something!) I can afford to deposit £300 a month and don't mind not having access for a year.
Can anyone advise? It seems to meet our needs but I am worried I have missed a drawback!

There is one - fairly large - drawback.
It's the '(5)' next to the title of Regular Saver ISA on that page ... if you go to the bottom of the page you'll see that this means 'Product no longer on sale.'0 -
Its not at all clear but the footnote says(5) Product no longer on sale.illegitimi non carborundum0

Can't see any mention of Nationwide Champion ISA anywhere?
Link is HERE. Sounds a bit like the Investec account, the downside is it is linked to 8 High St banks, not internet, but does include a guaranteed 1.35% till June 11.
"Top rate high street ISA
Every month we find the five highest branch based cash ISA interest rates from a group of 8 high street banks. The rates are sourced and verified by Moneyfacts.
The average of the five highest rates becomes the Champion ISA core interest rate for the next month. This means you don't have to keep looking around for a competitive savings rate, because we do it for you.
But that's not all - Champion ISA also pays a fixed bonus of 1.35% gross p.a. until 30 June 2011, giving your savings an extra boost – and because it's an ISA, any interest you earn will be tax –free. Please note the bonus is calculated daily and is not earned for any day that your balance drops below £1,000."
Some restrictions but no worse than others - worth consideration for transfers in?A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

even tho i opened the Santandaer fixed 3.2 ISA yesterday
i havent got an email..probably will tomorrow
but decided i may actually close it now
becasue
i already have money in my natwest e-isa from last year
and realised that they have decided to still offer at least 3% interest for this year for current subscribers (very unusual)
with that
i might put my other savings into a regular saver with santander (5%)0 -

Bear in mind that Natwest could drop the rate on their e-ISA at any time.
The Santander ISA is guaranteed not to drop below 3.2%, and will track any increases to the BOE base rate (for the first year).
To me, it seems a no-brainer.
(By the way, it might take a while before you get your email - I applied on Tuesday and still haven't heard).0 -

Walked into a branch today and was told this product is to be withdrawn tomorrow.
Shame you cannot apply online and need to make an appointment to open one.
