    Hi dorsetlass,

As you're transferring from a different bank my guess is that you won't have any problems as the money may leave your lloyds account tonight but it'll probably be in the banking 'ether' for three days by which time your A&L account should be fully up and running and ready to recieve funds. Only a guess mind!

Thank you ... and hope so ... will let you know ...

I have looked on the web, as was intersted in teh ING ISA, but didn't notice that previous year' contributions only earn a 2.5% interest.

    Has anyone got a link?

    Thanks!

If you go to the ING Direct savings page in the CASH ISA Block,
click on "find out more about our Cash ISA"
In the left hand column, next to the bottom it says
"Cash ISA Transfer" Click on that and takes you to page showing Interest Rate

Hi, would it be a problem to apply for the A&L 2.75 direct ISA into which I transfer my existing ISA's

    and

apply for the santander 3.2% isa to put my new £5100 ?

    or can I just do both through A&L / Santander i.e. have a 2,75% and the 3.2% with A&L ?
    thanks

    Hi Fraser,

You can have the two with A&L or have one with Santander but they are the same company and will be under the same name before this year's ISA matures.

The 3.2% (guaranteed 2.7% above BoE base) is for 'new' money only (2010-2011 subscription £5100 which is your one cash ISA allowed for the tax year) and then have the 2.75% account for your matured ISA(s) from previous tax years.

Do note though that the A&L 2.75% is if you transfer £9000 or more. If less than £9000 the rate is 2.00%. Both of these rates are variable including a variable bonus of 2.25% and 1.5% respectively. Info here for A&L http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/direct-isa.aspx?ct=mybankmar10disa&cm_mmc=mybank-_-ibh-_-mar10disa .

    Hope that helps,

I funded mine with a transfer from an A&L current account, done through internet banking, and it was instant - I mean, it showed up immediately not just on the ISA balance, but even on the transaction register. Surprised me, given that transfers between other A&L accounts don't do that...

Yep, it was like that when I subscribed to OH ISA but not with mine. Mind you, mine was later and just before they dropped the rate so it may have been because they were swamped then? Not really sure, but I would think dorsetlass should be ok, do you think?

I got quite a shock today when I telephoned A&L and asked them to move funds into the Flexible ISA, which I’d applied for 18th March 10. The woman told me I couldn’t fund it from another A&L account, only from an external account :( Did I have an external account? I said no I don’t. She then said she would need to speak to someone.

The Background to this – I was away over Easter therefore, didn’t have the money intended for the Flexible ISA, moved from my Online Saver to my A&L Current Account. So today I believed I could phone them up to make a direct transfer from the Online Saver to the ISA, therefore bypassing the current account.

So after a couple of minutes on hold she comes on the line and tells me that although I don’t have an external account, she will move the funds between accounts, which she did. I’ve checked online and it’s there earning 3.5%.

Then 2 minutes later she rings me back to tell that someone is going to phone me about the situation. I said I would be away out until 5p.m. approx. which she noted.

No telephone call yet, maybe I’ll hear tomorrow. I’m hoping that she was mistaken, maybe she confused two different accounts.

applying for/opening an ISA with A&L is easy enough but wait until you try and transfer your funds into it.....even if it's from another A&L account!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Hi Carpy,

As with others here, I received an e-mail from A&L more quickly than expected - by lunch time today I had an account number and details on how to do a BACS transfer (same details as in spiggle's post above).

The account has not yet shown up on my internet banking. In the past when I have opened online accounts with A&L, the new account has shown up the day after the initial e-mail without me having to do anything. I have just clicked on "add or remove accounts" below the list of accounts in internet banking and added a request to add this account in order to try and speed up the process.

I am going to chill out, sit tight and check again tomorrow. Hopefully the account will be added by then and then I can easily do an internal A&L transfer.

I have carried out exactly as above.. have opened the 2 accounts and been accepted and they have been linked to my other A & L accounts and given the new numbers. Now only need to fund these accounts. I realise I can fund the flexible 3.2% account from my current account. For the 2.75% direct ISA 6 can I do a transfer using the internet from last years accounts ... large sum from the Direct ISA issue 5 and £5100 from the Reward ISA or will I have to phone.

Whatever you do don't transfer online from last years account as that would count as a withdrawal and a subscription and you wouldn't then be able to subscribe to the Flexible ISA in this tax year.
I do not know if the A&L online banking actually allows you to do what you suggest, I hope not but there have been reports in the past that some banks do.
