Are you sure?, I just applied for mine online
Hmm.. I cannot. Where's the link? It states 3 means of applying and online is not one of them. You can fill out an electronic form but it seems you have to send it to them by post.
Are you an existing customer?Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -

FYI.
Yes, today (13th) is the last day:

Hello, Thanks for mentioning this ISA. I was going to tranfer my 2 ISAs to Nationwide 2.75%, but this is a much better deal. I had a look and I don't see a "catch" either (apart from the fact that you have to pay in minimum £100 for 9 months, but that's not really a problem!). I would also be interested by other people opinions..
The only catch I can see from their webpage: http://www.newcastle.co.uk/savings/balancebuilderisa
is point (1) & (7). Not only is the account interest variable, but the bonus is variable too. I assumed that the bonus of 1.4% would remain fixed if you did the 9 monthly minimum payments into the account. There's nothing to stop them from reducing the 1.4% bonus to a negligible amount tomorrow.
What do other people think?0 -
Ok quick update on my last post. I phoned Newcastle Building Society about their Balance builder and they said that the 1.4% bonus is *not* variable but fixed.
So the website says one thing and they tell you something different on the phone.
Confused!0 -

Sorry I mean I completed the form and posted it0 -
Random question on the BM Extra, I want to transfer in my old Egg ISA but don't have the £500 to make the minimum deposit. Would my transfer (about £1,400) count as the initial deposit or do I have to make the £500 in addition to my transfer? This is getting addictive!

Glad to hear it: I've just applied this afternoon!0 -
So what if the bonus is not variable? They could reduce the basic rate to 0% and then pay you 1.4%, and you could do nothing but (a) walk away and have just earned 2% or (b) stay and just earn 1.4% plus a bit of time at 3.4%.
Why do people buy accounts with such dubious bonuses?0
