Again, these questions have already been answered.0 -
First post, dont axe off my head please!
Checked my email account yesterday, and got an email from Amazon telling me that they have closed my accounts (three of them). Email is below:
Ive ordered about 200 things, returned 20 in the last two years - I admit they were expensive, but if you pay good money for things, dont you expect them to be of good quality?! (Quite a few replacements however).
Ive sent an email of complaint to the chief exec of Amazon detailing how its unfair, and how its not my fault the returns courier lost items. Funny thing is that I was going to order a tonne of AS level books for the start of college next year (Chem, Phys, Maths) from Amazon, and couldnt log in. Checked my email and wow. Every single time I wrote 'FRAGILE, HANDLE WITH CARE' as per the advice of Amazon CS, the returns courier lost the item. How much of a coincidence(!)
So, warning, dont use Amazon for things that are expensive, as clearly they dont like obiding by the DSR. All things sent back had legitimate faults. I had two printers to send back too, their refusing to pay the courier return, so booked my own. When, 24 hours before they were ready to pick the items up!!
End of my rant, apart from contacting Amazons big guy, what should I do? I had amazon prime aswell!
Really need my account cos I get about a million things from there (Toner, Office/Stationary supplies, cookies :rotfl:, and generally every single bit of electronic kit.
Thanks for reading, if you read it haha.
Aman.
A 10% return rate would suggest to me you are taking the !!!! HOWEVER as stated, once one account is closed your whole household is screwed and any other current or future account you have or setup. In fact after realising exactly how much private data Amazon have a record of from you just browsing their website it is going to be difficult but there are many ways of opening a new account and keeping it open, just google it. The fact you are a buyer and not a seller is in your favour :j0 -
So what happens if you have a Kindle and you get banned from Amazon???????????????????????????????Don't grow up. Its a trap!

You cant top up your kindle anymore (at least via Amazon) It will still work with whatever is on it but it will not connect with Amazon via your account.
There are hundreds of places to get free books for e-readers anyway, you don't need to use Amazon at all.0 -
You have to remember that Amazon is a business and they have to deal with the expense of all those DSR returns. It cost them in postage fees for all your returns, you are a liability to them and they are taking a business decision.
Now if only Ebay would do the same thing, I might start selling on there again.0 -
They were not left until last minitue.
Ordered three days before (I have two copies of books, one that highlight and destroy making notes on, and buy another set that are blank for revision just before the exam - its my unique system of revising).
*waits for more posts calling me stupid*

I think the OP is being given a hard time here! This is supposed to be a site for the consumer after all.
OK, a 10% return rate is relatively high, but it is obviously not 'a large majority' as Amazon state in their very odd e-mail.
The OP seems to have had problems with couriers, which have increased his/her return rate, and this is a perfectly reasonable explanation.
I think the wording of Amazon's e-mail is very arrogant. OK they have the right to refuse custom as they choose, but they are displaying a bad attitude, and seem to think that the Distance Selling Regulations do not apply to them. The e-mail gives the impression of accusing the OP of something, without clearly stating what, and it seems very unfair.
I order a lot from Amazon myself, but feel a bit guilty about this, because I have heard how their large share of the market is bad for both publishers and bookshops. I shall think twice about going automatically to Amazon next time.0 -

Cheers. I like the convenience of Amazon for the Kindle though so I think I'll just try not to upset the gods of Amazon!Don't grow up. Its a trap!

their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'

I must admit I read that and thought "she must have meant 3 weeks right? or months?".
Even ordering 3 days before going away seems a bit short to me but then I assume online delivery will take a week and if I need it before then find a Brick and Mortar store to get it from.0
