Vodafone default - not my fault - how to remove? *RESOLVED*

Hi Lee,
I had an account with Vodafone which I closed back in may 2010 and paid the remainder of the account (as far as I was made aware) which they told me was £7.33. I then moved house as I went to university. I received a letter from a debt recovery company telling me I owed money in september 2010. I had no idea what it was about so I gave them a call and it turned out that for some reason I owed £16.76 to Vodafone on the account that I had closed. It was the first I had heard of it and I paid it straight away. I had no idea I owed anything on the account and as far as I knew I paid the last payment. And as I had moved I did not know they were trying to contact me.
My credit file now says that I had arreas of 3 months on that account. However this is not my fault as I was told the account was paid off and closed. I have contacted Vodafone about this to get them removed from my credit history and was told that my case would be forwarded to the quality assurance team and should hear back in around 2 weeks. I haven't heard anything back from them and it's been 2 months. I was given this reference number IN01285378507. The mobile number for the account was 07766445068.
Hope you can help,

Hi Lee,
Thank you for your help. I know that you are getting back to me as quickly as you can but I was just wondering roughly how long this process takes? My husband and I are wanting to buy a house but would like to get this sorted before securing a mortgage. We are also concerned that this could prevent us from securing a mortgage if it's not sorted.
I really appreciate any help and advice you have to give.
Thank you,
Pip0 -

Hello there lee.
I have sent an email with a similar debt problem. Owing £41 for the last 18 months to Vodafone, which I didn't even know about, is ruining my life.
Hope it can get sorted favourably.

I have an account with vodafone thats 2 months overdue. I made a payment on the 1st of this month and managed to log into my account yesterday. Tried to log in today so i can pay the balance but no longer have log in access. Spoke to a customer service rep online today who couldnt locate my account(i dont have the phone number ...i rarely use the phone or account number). Went into a local store, still no help despite giving them my details and identification. My sim is disconnected so i cannot use it to get my phone number. Is there anyone from vodafone who can help me soon as from the other stories on here vodafone might be in the process of defaulting my account.
If the sim has been disconnected rather than call barred I would imagine the default will certainly have gone through by now and at least flagged up as late payment. It's not just about the money0 -

Hi,
I have discovered that vodafone has placed a default on my credit file from 2010 when applying for a mortgage. Please can yuo help get this removed as it must be an error, I have not had any problems with vodafone and they have never asked me for any money after I closed my accounts. The default does not show up with the credit agency we used to check and we have no idea what it is about. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. I moved after closing the account but still got mail from there for quite a while so vodafone has not tried to contact as far as I am aware. All I can assume is that this default has been placed in error.0 -
