As Martin said on 5Live, forumites' skepticism is one of the things we love most about the site, so reading this debate has been interesting.

Do you have any idea how condescending that sounds?

Just to put across the info published earlier again, the most important thing to understand is we've a legal contract to ensure MSE content stays editorially independent, free from commercial influence, we will continue to campaign and moneysupermarket services get no special treatment, nor will our database be used by them.

Sorry to continue with the scepticism Dan but at some future point when Martin has left the company, what's to stop MS changing that agreement? Who would have the legal authorty to challenge any proposed change in independence?

And what happens if Martin "walks away" as he said in the radio interview?

The week after the deal is signed Moneysupermarket can start to turn the screws, if martin doesnt like it he said himself he can walk away, what would happen then?

    "enjoy your millions"
"I hope he & his money are happy together"
    etc
    etc

What pathetic envious snipes! Whats the bloke supposed to do? Work 25hrs a day for nothing just to keep you satisfied? Would it make you less envious if he gave the site away for nothing? But then, it's obviously not his to give if its worth anything is it?
Bet you've all got your Euro Millions tickets for tonight, and if you win it, how many of you "sickened at the sell-out" merchants will even turn up for work on monday, nevermind stay for at least another three years??

Well I never thought it would happen Martin selling of to big corporate greed it is a shame as a lot of sucess has came from his loyal readers which will feel bittery let down I am one of them and will now leave this site and never return can't belive he has sold out. Hope the charity donations help your descion which i and a lot of your royal fans now ex will feel. Money does truly talk and I hope another site which was based on the same principles you used to have will start up. Hope you enjoy your money and would suggest you buy yourself a boat.
I would be grateful if you dont talk about how it really is as you are a money grapping fatcat now in my oppinion.

I am sure that if it was just money that you wanted and asked all 5,000,000 users to pay a £20 fee to use the site we would have paid.

We would probably have paid an annual fee.

I can assure you that doing something like that would be the quickest way to lose around 4,990,000 users in an instant. :)

I'm not belittling anyone. You're doing that all by yourself.

As regards your point #2. I'm happy to tell you that you have been successful in your objective not to make friends. I can see why you wouldn't want any (or them you).

Don't know if you're deliberately trying to be thick or what but where did I say that my objective was not to make friends?

    And it's actually point 3.

Another thing that nobody has mentioned is how this will change Moneysupermarket?

Will it have moneysavingexpert plastered all over it?

Will moneysavingexpert be mentioned in its TV adverts?

"Martin, you're so moneysupermarket, you dont even know it.."
