the most important thing to understand is we've a legal contract to ensure MSE content stays editorially independent, free from commercial influence, we will continue to campaign and moneysupermarket services get no special treatment
Can you confirm, in terms of the no special treatment, that assuming all other things stayed equal that Go Compare would still remain the top choice for car insurance, with Money Supermarket second?0 -
Well done to Martin, but I have now unsubscribed to the weekly email, I suspect it will become full of spam from now on, rather than carefully picked deals/info.0

The week after the deal is signed Moneysupermarket can start to turn the screws, if martin doesnt like it he said himself he can walk away, what would happen then?
The Editorial Code is locked in for three years minimum. After that, we believe it will be maintained. Please judge us on the resultsFormer MSE team member0 -
Sorry to continue with the scepticism Dan but at some future point when Martin has left the company, what's to stop MS changing that agreement? Who would have the legal authorty to challenge any proposed change in independence?
This is key - anyone that profits from the takeover is not independent. Anyone that works for moneysupermarket (and hence, MSE) is not independent. There is no regulatory body with any teeth/ jurisdiction in this area, and certainly not that would get involved in day to day issues, so I cannot see who can fulfil such a role.0 -
Congratulations Martin, you have earnt every penny, and helped thousands if not millions into coping with ever rising costs.
Take no notice of these ungrateful sods.0 -

Absolutely correct, as is the point below about Energyhelpline.Former MSE team member0 -

What you want to believe and what will actually happen are 2 entirely different things!
You are saying "For the next 3 years everything will be the same, after that, we don't know".
You can't assume you will have a job, that the site will still be run the same etc. unless you have it written contract. Your contract is for 3 years, not forever.0 -
Congrats to martin on this one.
However, Having worked for both mse and moneysupermarket group in work experience roles, I can tell you that mse wont be the same again.
At mse, there is a family approach to busines, whereby martin interacts with his staff on a daily basis. In contrast, Moneysupermarket employ a 'time is money' philosophy throughout their workforce, and their offices in north wales are crampt, overcrowded, miserable and very despressing as a result.
I know Martin will still remain head of mse for 3 years after the deal, so presumably staff or the mse offices won't have to relocate immediately. But what after that?.The Name's Bond James Bond0
