Are Consumer Lifestyle and Lifestyle research the same company?
Hi, I have a similar worry.
This forum has mentioned a website based in Watford called "Consumer Lifestyles" that sells data about people. Its name is based on "dlg-pdv". Quite a posh-looking site. They rang me on a high-quality line this morning and, without prompting, politely said they would remove us from their list. They withheld their phone number.
On the other hand, the Indian-sounding voices that often ring on a fuzzy line also claim to be "Consumer Lifestyles", and when I ring 1471 I always get a UK number, often in Birmingham.
My question: is there any connection between Consumer Lifestyles (Watford) and Consumer Lifestyles (India)? I suspect not. And does the Indian call centre pretend to sign people up for insurance/charities/etc and then "re-use" their banking details?0 -
I moved into a new house about a year ago, and we have had a constant stream of calls for someone who must have lived here three owners ago. They're from an Indian call centre, doing a "survey," not giving away their own contact details - so the same story as everyone else.
Today, I had a call from a company called "Full Finance" asking for the same previous owner. I asked them where they got the details from, and they said Consumer Lifestyle Survey and gave me the 0800 952 9975 number to call. I actually called the DLG-PDV 01923 number above. The lady who picked up said they didn't have the previous owner's name registered for my number, but they did have the number listed for surveys and sales calls and they would now suppress calls to it (both by them and also the people the sell our data to).
So - I can't quite tell if they definitely are the same company. But calling that 01923 number was painless, and definitely worth doing if others reading this board are also getting hassled.0 -
When they hang up don't hang up yourself, leave the line open this will tie up one of their lines. The company will get the message.
Additionally hold the phone at a distance and speak normally to them, then bring the phone in close and blow a whistle. It will affect only the call jocky but they ought to be doing something more productive with their lives.0 -
Well I just told the chap on the phone tonight after the 15th call from consumer lifestyles that I am getting !!!!ed off. He then makes threats to me down the phone saying that his brothers will be sent round to me giving me my address and that he lives in Afgan and I should be worried.
Contacted the Police and all they said was they dont think there is nothing they can do. I bet if it was the other way around something would be done.0 -
Just tell them you aren't the person they are asking for.0

CONSUMER LIFESTYLES LIMITED - 0800 996 1966 64 CLARENDON ROAD WATFORD HERTFORDSHIRE WD17 1DA 01923 281700 Telephone the 01923 281700 number and ask them to remove your number within 14 days. I did this, and I also complained to Tesco customer services. Consumer Lifestyles sell data to companies, including Tesco, and I wanted to know from Tesco why they are involved with a company that makes nuisance calls. Hopefully, if Tesco & the like waste time dealing with nuisance complaints from people like me, the industry will eventually wake up !!0

My phone has been ringing continuously today - withheld number. The last person I spoke to said they were "your lifestyle" - is this the same people as companies previously mentioned?
Been registered with tps since the year dot, and always make sure I tick any boxes that say I Don't want any further junk calls, emails etc. etc.
The red mist is getting so thick in my office I may be very rude if it rings again today.
I asked for a website so I could make sure I got my number removed and she volunteered to ring me back tomorrow. That's the last thing I want, I am trying to get rid of them, not encourage more calls!!!! Just wondered what process seems to bring my number up so many times on the same day. Will they just keep on until I finally give in and answer NO to every question they ask.
I did endure one of these calls once, and after about 10 minutes, and me saying no to everything that was likely to lead to further calls, etc., I finally asked how many more questions he was going to fit in the 2 minutes of my time he had originally asked for - I told him I could save his time because I wasn't really listening to what he was asking, and he could do it all himself and say no to everything on my behalf, cos that's all he would get from me - end of call!!!!!0 -
I normally let the answerphone answer all my calls and that in general kills all the marketing calls. But as I am getting important calls atm and am likely to be for several months, so I have to answer and these jerks rang me. Presumably from a OS call center. When people ask me it that is Mr... I am immediately on guard. "Who wants to know?." "Consumer Lifestyles, and you Mr..?" What are you trying to sell?", I am not trying to sell anything." Sorry I don't believe you." and I hung up. I have heard this line far to often. But I will check out the true call device mentioned in an earlier post. Sounds interesting.0

I keep getting calls from various people doing surveys for "Todays Lifestyle". When I ask them to take my number off their database they just hang-up on me. Are they part of this group?0

I've just had a(nother) call from Consumer Lifestyles this time insisting that they were able to contact me because I had 'opted in' by answering questions during a previous call (date and content unspecified). This is completely untrue - I hate the imposition and inconvenience of cold calls and always give short shrift. So thanks for the info here - will give it a try. BTW, I know it's tempting to use a whistle but aren't we in 'shooting the messenger' territory here? I cannot imagine what drives someone to take a soulless job in a call centre but I suspect it's a real need in many cases. Shouldn't we be concentrating on the people at the top?0
