Some quotes from a "UK Lifestyle" caller this morning:
1. "You can't be on TPS or I wouldn't have your number"
2. "Did you know that you now have to re-register with TPS every month"
3. "My name is Martin Johnson"
Some quotes from a "Senior Manager" on 01923 281700 (don't just ask the receptionist to remove the number, insist on escalating the problem):
1. "It is a condition of use that "They" don't withhold CLI"
2. "I will investigate and get back to you this afternoon"
Won't hold my breath - some poor phone jockey in India will probably get the sack but doubt anything will change at this end0 -
To be fair, they did call back within the hour, and seemed genuinely concerned.
In summary:- 01923 281700 are registered as "Consumer Lifestyles"
- All their calls present CLI and are TPS compliant
- "UK Consumer Lifestyles" and other variations are nothing to do with them.
- They are investigating these other companies- but if calls are originating from India, not sure what they can do about it.
However, even if they are a genuine 'Market Research' outfit, I don't have much sympathy with them0 -
I keep one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002ICWDIK/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 by the 'phone. Never had a repeat call from the same "nuisance" since buying it. I normally us the "fail" followed by the "laugh"!0

OK, I'm getting 3 or 4 a day.
Following the links above and signed out through the link on their website.Unfortunately my email account isn't working properly and I've had to change the From and Reply To fields to that of the head of direct sales.
Hope he enjoys the response!
I'm also planning to use the above email address and phone number on all quotes for car insurance this year.0 -
Emailed this lady ( see below) and she said our details have now been suppressed from their database to ensure we are not contacted by any companies via DLG. She said it would take up to 14 days.
But so far no calls. :j

This was a note on her email so they have also moved:

Doesn't it seem odd to anyone that the callers from this company can never give you the name of their website when you ask? In this day and age? Does anyone know what they actually DO apart from nuisance phone calls?0

Just to say this is the address I was given out on the phone a few minutes ago. They do move around a lot don't they?0 -
They certainly are persistent !!!!!!!s. We got Truecall installed about 4 weeks ago, and although it has been programmed to automatically zap calls from Consumer Lifestyles with a curt message, the logs shows that they still call frequently.
Would definitely recommend Truecall. Best £90 I've ever spent!0 -
We've received a number of calls from this company over recent months, so I've just contacted them on 01923 281700.
I spoke to a very pleasant lady who told me that Consumer Lifestyles had purchased our details from a company called ?Wegener? in 2006.
She said it'll take 14 days to remove our number from their mailing list.

DLG = Data Locator Group, the people from Watford that get their lackeys to HOUND you with calls from overseas. Want to scare yourself, read their privacy policy. Turns out that I was being hounded by (according to them) completing an online survey in 2011, and my mum, who has no computer, an online survey in 2006! Seriously read what you have apparently given them consent to do!
Anyway their companies include :
"OTHER DLG BRANDS
The following brands collecting consumer data are also DLG's: Brochures4Me, Brain
Training Game, MoreChances2Win, Matchpoints, Quizard, Survey Centre, Consumer Centre,
Vouch4Me, Centre for Consumer Interests, Win43, Consumer Interest Survey,
DVDSurveys.co.uk, Surveys.co.uk, Consumer Lifestyles, So You Think You Know and
Response Direct Publishing"
When people call, ALWAYS ask for the company name. They might claim to honour the TPS, but they don't, otherwise they wouldn't be calling me! They claim to have removed me, but now I'm going to ask them WHAT survey's they were for what companies - should be interesting!
These people harassed my elderly mum 3-4 times a day - I find that objectionable. If you think they are ok, you haven't read their website..0
