Want to stop consumer lifestyles cold calling you? Here's how...

Why have the MSE forum staff removed the excellent and helpful information provided by the first 2 posters?
Since Martin Lewis sold this site, the amount of censorship creeping onto these forums has become worrying.
The "helpful forum staff" allow scum like ATOS Healthcare to register and officially peddle their lies whilst valuable information provided by the OP on how to stop these nuisance calls (and it obviously worked) has been deleted.

In addition to my post made earlier (which I don't regret) can I just say that of all the zillions of telemarketing calls I've had in recent years, this company Consumer Lifestyles are by far the worst of the lost.
They simply don't care or listen when you say you aren't interested.
If you ask politely to be taken off their database they say not a problem. Only to phone back a few days later.
Alternatively, if you take the rude/aggressive approach they still phone back. God, they must be desperate for customers.
The record for me is 3 calls in one day from this company and 2 of them were within a 90 minute period. The first couple of times I was polite. On the last occasion I just lost it and told them to **** off. I don't really care whether or not they are offended, serves them right for harrassing me with unwanted calls.
It's been a stressful week as my mother has been in hospital having knee surgery and to make things worse, this shambles of a company Consumer Lifestyles have called at least 4 times that I know of. It blocks up the phone line which is my major gripe.
Most sales companies do eventually get the message and give up (if you are rude enough in my experience) but Consumer Lifestyles just keep coming back like cockroaches.
Why haven't this company been fined by the ICO for breaking cold-calling rules? They are obviously one of the worst offenders.
Maybe it's time to up the ante and get one of those personal attack alarms to unleash down the line next time they phone...
Burst eardrums might be enough to make them delete my details, or at the very least think twice about phoning back.

Burst eardrums will only affect the poor employee dealing with computer generated calls & will have NO EFFECT AT ALL on the company!Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0

dlg is the trading name of data locator group ltd, company no: 6742075, a subsidiary of dm plc
registered in england at green heys, walford road, ross-on-wye, hr9 5db.i called the 01925 number and spoke to a guy there he said they have added several new call centers and that could be why , but he was interested to hear that most of the operators were hanging up on me.
He also said my name wasn't in the system on my last name.. Instead on a name form the previous owner almost 25 years ago.
7 days to remove me...
I told him if i had another day of 12 calls i would be contacting watch dog and putting a formal complaint to oftel and i would be filing harassment charges against the company.
And now we play the waiting game... Good luck everyone!
thank you for this infomation.
I have just telephoned 01923 281700 and spoke to sophie woolfe (wolf?) who took my telephone no and surname and said it would take 14 days to be deleted from their system and for calls to stop.
Hopefully that will put an end to the nuisance. Thanks again.0 -
Thanks to all on this thread for your help. I have just had my third call of the day, each one getting more stroppy.
Came on here rang the 01923 number now waiting to see the result.0 -
I am also being pestered by consumer lifestyles. I phoned them yesterday, person I spoke to seemed very surprised at my complaint. I was told that it would take 14 days to stop the calls. Caller's new tactic when told that they are harassing people in UK is that this is the first time the individual has called so that somehow makes it OK.
However, we must not forget they are commissioned by UK companies to provide them with leads. I don't suppose we can name those companies on here but the ones I know of are well known brands and include leading charities. They are as much to blame as Data Location PLC group t/a Consumer Lifestyles. Incidentally I believe their most recent move to Iveco House was due to their previous office at Clarendon Road burning down.0 -
Hi,
Just got a phonecall from them. Number just showed as "International". Conversation went something like this:
Indian sounding male voice: Hello is that Mr xxxx
Me: Who's speaking please?
Him: My name is (garbled name) and I'm calling from consumer lifestyles conducting a survey. Could you spare a minute of your time.
Me: First I would like to know more about you. What was your name again?
Him: My name is (sounded like) Jimmy
Me: Did you say Jimmy? What is your real name?
Him: My real name is Jaimie sir. Jaimie Oliver
Me: Oh Jaimie. What a surprise! I do like your recipes!
Him: I don't do recipes sir. I am from consumer lifestyles conducting a survey. Can you spare a minute of your time?
Me: Consumer lifestyles eh. Hang on, I'm on the internet. Let me check up on your company. Ah I see. This is the same consumer lifestyles company that cold calls people even if they are registered with the Telephone Preference Service?
Him: I'm sorry sir. If you are registered with TPS please tell me and I will make sure we don't call again.
Me: Hang on a minute. I just want to get more information from you for my complaint to the TPS. What is your phone number?
Him: We don't have a phone number sir.
Me: Hang on a minute, you must have a phone number. You're using a phone at this minute to talk to me! What is your phone number?
****** call disconnected ******
The beauty of all of this is that for once I really enjoyed getting the better of them rather than feeling really annoyed that they had disturbed my shade bathing! And it meant that while uselessly talking to me, he was not able to annoy someone else - so a win all round (except for consumer lifestyles of course):j!0 -
Thank you for posting these details. I've just called 01923 281700 and the lady was very friendly and helpful, removing my details from their database immediately - no mention of a 14 day wait. I also asked her to remove my parents details and she did that too. Let's see if it does the trick. I do hope so because these people are driving me nuts!!!!0

So after months of receiving between 3 and 6 calls a day from this 'company' and I use that term very loosely, I got fed up of them not listening to my requests to remove us from their database. I did a bit of digging around and found out a bit of information about them.
As we are all aware, they call from overseas but actually are based in the uk, so are able to flout the tps. [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]
Here's what I did...
I phoned the number and spoke to a very polite gentleman on the other end of the phone. I explained the situation (being tps registered, that they were the parent company and that I was receiving lots of phone calls a day)
The man on the other end of the phone was very pleasant until I Stated that the company was flouting the tps rules and I would be making a formal complaint to oftel. I told him I had documented every phone call for the last 4 months complete with numbers and had found out that their company was the parent company for consumer lifestyles.
He then backtracked and tried to tell me that it had nothing to do with them. I stated that I had looked their details up on companies house and knew it was them and to remove my details from their system with immediate effect.
I did have to give my name and telephone number but I thought as they already have it it wasn't going to make it any worse.
I did state that if I received so much as one more phone call from them I would be immediately submitting a complaint to the relevant authorities.
That was 2 weeks ago. So far.... Not a peep.
They are very crafty they do not leave a number now (Caller withheld their number)0 -
Don't have anything constructive to add, but have this:
My dad got a cold caller asking if he had home insurance and if he would like to buy cover (bearing in mind they rang the landline).
He said he lived in a tent. Never called again.0
