This didn't happen to me. It could be a consequence of Ovivo sims now costing £10 and the system no longer recognises the ones with the old starting topup.

If you email Ovivo and explain, I'm sure they will sort it out. Either you should be able to start with just £5 as it was an old sim or else you just need to add another £5 to bring it up to £10 - the current starting rate. (Unless there is something in the T&C to the effect that sims have to be activated within x months or the credit will be lost. The credit should last 12 months once activated.)

The support or CS or whatever they are called are very helpful. If you email them they normally reply within a couple of hours.

In August I ordered Ovivo sim for £5, and today was the first time I put it into a handset.

The problem is that the credit is £0 and I am required to "arrange a top-up" to be able to make a call.

    Why? Is it normal?
    Hi Grumbler,
Did you activate the sim or not ?

Maybe it shows £0 if not activated ???

    How can I activate it?
It's in the phone showing 'Ovivo mobile'.
I received two messages: "Welcome..." and "Your remaining credit is £0".
When I try making a call, even to 363, the recorded message says that I need to top up.

@Herongull: Sent them an enquiry. Waiting for a reply.

I had to go on their website, login with my mobile phone number and password and this activated the sim card.

Have you ever logged into the site?

Wow! It worked. And surprise-surprise... The credit is £10, not £5 as I expected. Patience pays sometimes.

    Thanks everyone.
