Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I went on holiday for a week in Turkey and he has received this massive bill. The largest portion of the bill is for:
Mobile Internet & Data £1739.23

Has anyone any experience of getting this kind of bill reduced.

I am so shocked, I'm speechless (which is unusual for me)

Any advice would be welcome

Quite normal I'm afraid, take your data phone on holiday and £200 a day is the bottom line you can expect.
Its back to the calls only handset if you are leaving the country.

İts very odd because my wife uses a Paygo phone when we are in the uk to ring her mum's moblie in turkey and it probably cost 30 quid for 4 weeks

Most people are so "impressed" that the smart phone actually works abroad what the data roaming charges are is the last thing on their mind.
One must wonder why they bother with a holiday if you are a prisoner to the phone when you get there.

The OP's issue is data, not calls, and it was data used while in Turkey, not the UK.

OP, some have had charges reduced in limited circumstances, but legally you are liable for the charges (you should have turned data off before going).

Data roaming shocks are pretty common as phones can use data on their own if the owner doesn't disable mobile data. However, 2065-1739=£329 - this is what you used consciously on calls and texts. I think anyone who spends such amount on calls is in a position to pay unexpected £1.7K easily.

Call Orange and ask them to apply retrospectively as big data roaming bundle as possible. They have no obligation to do this though.

    Orange data roaming.....a decent outcome...!
    horrendous data roaming charges
    T-Mobile roaming charges.
    bill dispute with orange
Data and roaming chages, should the UK netowks do more to prevent bill shock?
PLEASE HELP!!!! Orange are being unreasonable

Orange charges £8,000 per gigabyte for data roaming outside the EEA, compared to around £10 per gigabyte for the same usage within the UK. Given that Orange's charge is so high, why did you use the service?

Or ... simply switch OFF data roaming.

    Simples :)

many phones turn it back on.
Leave the data phone at home and take that old brick from the kitchen drawer.
