PLEASE HELP!!!! Orange are being unreasonable

Options
Hi all,

If any of you can help i would be grateful......I have been with Orange for 8 years and have never had any problems, questioned a bill or missed a payment.

I recently upgraded from a Blackberry to Iphone with them and went to America for two weeks. Whilst away i added all the bolts on to use the phone abroad, both calls and internet and enjoyed my holiday.

I returned to a bill of £1,250.61 for 130 megabytes of useage which they are saying i used and im disputing. I asked to provide evidence which they cant give me.

I then asked if i could add a bolt on onto the bill to cover the useage, which was suggested to me by their staff, which a manager has since declined.

Im stuck as to what course of action to take next. If anyone has any ideas i would be really grateful.

Many thanks all!

I can be misunderstanding something, but the above makes no sense to me.

There are various data roaming bundles available. If you added, say, the cheapest one you should have taken care of not exceeding the allowance. However, even the most expensive 500Mb one can be not sufficient for streaming music and tv/video.

130Mb figure doesn't look unreasonably big for a data-hungry iPhone and two weeks of 'enjoying your holiday' even without streaming.

Keep fighting, but I don't see any serious grounds for this. However, there were stories when people had their roaming bills cut by 50% and more.

    Grumbler,

Thanks for your quote! when i say all, i meant a bundle for the amount of data i have used on average over the last few years which is between 10 - 15mb. Im now being charged for 130mb when i did nothing different and connect to all wifi networks.

I am gonna continue fighting this for sure

    tbcl,

Do you have Wifi setup at home? Does your iPhone connect to it?

The iPhone will download app updates etc if you have mobile network data turned on - you may not have downloaded anything, but your apps may have - additionally maps etc are all data downloads, not local storage.

I cannot understand how your usage on an iPhone can only be 10-15mb a month, or even a week let alone two.

    Something doesn't make sense...

    Two questions:
    • How much data do you use per month on your iPhone (not your previous Blackberry) when in the UK? Halve this to get a likely amount for a two-week period.
    • Did you have (and do you still have) data roaming turned on or off on your iPhone?

You can't compare BB and iPhone in terms of data consumption.
It's like comparing Smart with Hummer in terms of MPG.

    Was data roaming turned off?

The settings say " Turn off data roaming when travelling to avoid charges when web browsing and using email, MMS, and other data services"

The other very important piece of information you haven't mentioned is how much data your iPhone's data counter said you'd used during the period in question. If you had bought bundles of a specified allowance of data, you must have been keeping a close eye on this.

my bb uses 150mb min, also a lot is included, op you need to drop been stroppy though as really you dont have a leg to stand on if they refuse 50% off.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

the op wouldnt have turned roaming off coz they stated they used the internet while away assuming it would be enough to cover him on his bolt on
