Just about ALL of them if you drop it and the battery comes out, like many people do every day.
By the time you have turned it off again you can be £50 out of pocket.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Oh please tell me more ................. do these phones turn it back on hourly/ daily ? I'm off to the states in a few weeks and I will be taking my Tmoby contract Galaxy S2 to text home, use free Wifi and to phone the wife to ask how long she is going to be in the A & F changing rooms !
Now I have been into the Tmoby shop to ask advice and the assistant told me to "Turn of Data Roaming" and I will be fine ! My wife is on Vodafone again with a Galaxy and she has done the same. The assistant said "Turn off Data Roaming and Packet Data" and you will be fine !
So are we going to be fine or are we going to have a shock bill when we return ? It kind of makes me think there are thousands going abroad with smart phones, so most of them must be fine !

My home screen wallpaper changed, but data roaming was 'off' and remains the same.0 -
Indeed your Desire is not a rare example, that is how all phones are. Unless you left the battery out for so long that the phone was unable to retain any settings at all.0

Just checked, mine doesn't. Any examples? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I keep reading these slightly paranoid suggestions that the phone gets up to things behind the owner's back.
There are also some occasional snobby remarks about how superior these phones are to out of date models which have never done this.
If the phone is set to automatically check for emails, then even if there aren't any or just the headers are downloaded and only one or two are read the checking uses 20 to 70 kilobytes. Do that every few minutes and a megabyte could be used per hour. Ten days of that is about equal to the use implied in the original post here.
Turn off this so-called background data, or just check manually a couple of times a day. It's quite possible to use data a few pence at a time and not often.0 -

Just tried the several phones which I have access to; of all different types; none of them turned data or data roaming back on when the battery was put back in.0 -
No phone will turn data back on if you have turned it off and for anyone going abroad with a smartphone, take out the sim and buy a local one that way there is no huge bills waiting for you when you get back home.
Hopefully Orange will knock some off that bill too for you.0 -
Why should it be reduced? thats what it costs, you used the data didnt you?
another one who expects things for nothing....I want a range rover but cant afford one - how should i get land rover to reduce the price to what i can afford....?Help!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband and I went on holiday for a week in Turkey and he has received this massive bill. The largest portion of the bill is for:
Mobile Internet & Data £1739.23
Has anyone any experience of getting this kind of bill reduced.
I am so shocked, I'm speechless (which is unusual for me)
Any advice would be welcome0
