I have been chased for three years by debt collectors for 02 for cancelling a direct debit for a broken phone that they were supposed to replace and couldn't seem to deliver.
No idea how someone could think mobile phone companies don't do debt collecting lol.0 -
Where did it say that the OP refused to pay the bill?? They likely cancelled the DD so that the money would not come out of their account before they could communicate with Orange.0

Can I ask what u said in the letter? I have just returned from Tunisia to a bill for nearly £800 all down to data roaming charges, I had thought i had turned everything off, was only on it 4 times on Facebook in which each time i turned the roaming on uploaded a photo them turned it back off again otherwise i was using the wifi, I phoned orange while i was there as after 2 days i recieved a text stating i was incurring charges when i phoned them the bill was at £252 they told me to turn everything completely off and only use wifi which i did, 2 days later they put a bar on my phone, just checked my online bill and it is currently standing at nearly £800 can't phone them as my phone is barred so need to wait till my hubby comes home0

Just had a £1300 bill from Orange with massive data charges from Spain on an iPhone 4s. I had opted for the £3 per day data bundle of 30mb per day, the Orange advisor suggested this should be plenty for average use checking of emails etc. He never mentioned, that I recall, to switch off data roaming when not using the internet.
Apparently the iPhone uses up data all the time checking for email notifications, location services and updates etc automatically.
After calling Orange to query the bill I was told that there were no notes on my original call log to set up the bundle advising me to turn off Data Roaming.
Retrospectively they put me on a Data bundle of £150 for 500mb which reduced my bill to £204, still a lot of money but a harsh lesson in turning off Data Roaming when not actually needing it.
The new EU caps on data which came into force in July do not apply as it seems I opted out of the caps by buying a bundle.0 -

Why is it that people are so quick to act when they get their extortionate bill and not before they go on holiday?
Is it that bad to ring your current network a couple of weeks before you go on holiday to double check what charges are like for using your phone in the country you are going too?
Id love to hear stories of people who went to America and came back with a £40 bill. I would urge anyone in this predicament to tell their friends and family about what can happen and pass on the advice... Save your money for your holiday and keep a phone for emergencies, not for Facebook0 -

Forgive me for asking, but why on earth would a network advise you to turn off data roaming when you had just asked for a data bundle which is specifically for roaming????0
